What you'll do...

Job Summary:
As the Director of Data Science for Walmart’s Last Mile Delivery team, you will drive the strategy and science behind our efforts to deliver sub-3-hour service nationwide. You’ll lead a high-impact team focused on leveraging new assets, automation, and AI to shape the future of Walmart’s last mile network.

What you’ll do:

  • Guide and influence stakeholders by setting and executing the strategic vision for Last Mile Delivery across Walmart U.S.
  • Lead design and optimization of last mile assets and network, ensuring alignment with the company’s rapid delivery goals.
  • Develop and implement advanced data science solutions—including automation and AI—to enhance delivery capabilities and efficiency.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with business, technology, and operations teams to integrate data-driven insights into decision-making.
  • Measure, analyze, and report on the effectiveness of last mile strategies, making continuous improvements.

What you’ll bring:

  • Proven leadership experience building and managing high-performing data science teams.
  • Deep expertise in network design, logistics, or last mile delivery, ideally in a large-scale or retail environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive alignment across diverse teams.
  • Advanced skills in data science, machine learning, and automation, with experience deploying AI solutions in operational settings.
  • Strategic problem-solving mindset with a strong track record of delivering measurable results.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex analyses into actionable business strategies.

The annual salary range for this position is $130,000.00-$260,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Minimum Qualifications...

Option 1: Bachelors degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 6 years' experience in an analytics related field.
Option 2: Masters degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 4 years' experience in an analytics related field.
Option 3: 8 years' experience in an analytics or related field
