We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Finance Analyst to join our Engineering department. The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of experience in finance, with a strong focus on engineering functions. This role will be critical in managing headcount, compensation & benefits cost planning, engineering cost liquidation, enhancing engineering processes, and supporting key financial cycles including pacing, budgeting, and reporting. The Finance Analyst will work closely with the Engineering team to provide financial insights and support operational decision-making.
Roles and Responsibilities
Headcount Management: Develop and maintain headcount forecasts in alignment with Engineering project timelines and business objectives. Assist in the annual budgeting process for Engineering headcount, ensuring alignment with financial goals. Conduct regular analysis of headcount utilization and efficiency, providing recommendations for optimization.
Compensation & Benefits (Comp & Ben) & other functional cost planning: Create and maintain cost models for compensation and benefits specific to the Engineering department. Monitor and manage Comp & Ben budgets, identifying variances and providing actionable insights. Prepare regular reports, highlighting trends and areas for improvement.
Engineering Cost Liquidation: Ensure accurate allocation of engineering costs across projects and departments. Perform variance analysis on engineering costs, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions. Generate detailed cost liquidation reports for stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accuracy.
Engineering Processes Enhancement: Identify opportunities for enhancing engineering financial processes, leading initiatives to streamline and improve efficiency. Automation: Collaborate with IT to implement automation solutions for repetitive financial tasks within Engineering. Best Practices: Stay abreast of industry best practices and implement relevant strategies within the Engineering department.
Operations Partnership: Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong partnerships with Engineering leaders and team members to understand their financial needs and provide tailored solutions. Support: Provide ongoing financial support and guidance to Engineering operations, ensuring alignment with financial strategies. Serve as a liaison between Engineering and Finance, facilitating clear and effective communication.
Support Key Financial Cycles: Pacing: Assist in the development and maintenance of financial pacing plans for Engineering projects. Budgeting: Contribute to the annual budgeting process, ensuring Engineering financial requirements are accurately represented. Reporting: Prepare and present financial reports for Engineering, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports. Forecasting: Develop and maintain financial forecasts for Engineering, providing insights into future financial performance.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college or equivalent knowledge or experience
Minimum of 7 years of finance experience of increasing responsibility
