Regional  Supervisor Job Description 

Established in 1957, YAI is a network of five agencies offering people with intellectual and developmental disabilities a comprehensive range of services across the life span. YAI is a major provider of services and programs for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families throughout the New York metropolitan area 

Duties and Responsibilities 

This position will be responsible for ensuring consistency across a region by assisting with supervision and training in programs throughout that region and reporting to the programs’ Regional Director. Primary duties include: assisting in supervision and quality assurance of the region’s programs, project management and systems workflows, being a Super User for technological systems, assist in training Supervisors, organizing the administrative training responsibilities, coordinating regional trainers, and supporting and reporting to the Regional Director. The position requires supervisory skills and is best suited for a highly organized person who is capable of multitasking. The role requires direct responsibility for a diverse array of tasks within multiple programs and is a very people-focused position. Candidates must excel at assessing training needs in the individual programs for multiple levels of staff. They must also be exceptional at prioritizing, identifying, and understanding the varied needs of the employees, the people we support, and the programs under their care.

The ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge and skills: 

  • All the knowledge and skills of DSP 3 

  • Ability to evaluate individual staff strengths and weaknesses 

  • Meeting facilitation 

  • Supervisory skills 

  • Brilliant at training 

  • Facility maintenance 

  • Comprehensive knowledge of systems (financial, clinical, medical, administrative, compliance) 

  • Policy and Procedure manual 

  • Incident reporting 

  • Facility maintenance and personalization                 

  • Labor relations 

  • Hiring process as needed 

  • (Knowledge of) all digital systems required of the position 

  • Person-centered knowledge 

  • Understanding of financial practices and parameters for the programs 

The ideal candidate will possess the following problem solving abilities:  

  • Assists Supervisors, Coordinators, and the Regional Director with problem identification and applying solutions 

  • Identifies regional needs, with a special focus on training needs 

  • Positive approach to handling situations 

  • Effective feedback to all team members 

  • Delegation 

The ideal candidate will be accountable for the following: 

  • Serving as the liaison with all support departments, assists as needed 

  • Train Supervisors in systems 

  • May be involved in planning special events for staff and people we support 

  • Provides support in Residential and Day programs when there is no Supervisor, a new Supervisor, or lack of leadership in the program 

  • Is responsible for training on multiple systems  

  • Ability to conduct investigations throughout the region 

  • Is a Super User for digital/technological systems 

  • Alerts and coordinates the implementation of training updates 

  • Serves as a support to all trainers in the region, especially regarding preparation, scheduling, and collecting feedback to ensure YAI provides the highest quality of training to staff 

  • Region’s representation for committees 

  • 9LWorks with individuals and teams 

  • Manage the organization's systems in a region 

  • Provides program assessments to the Regional Director 

  • Consistency of program operations within YAI’s policies and procedures 

  • Participates in agency projects/committees 

  • Attends and presents at regional Supervisor and Coordinator meetings 

  • Communicating priorities for the programs to staff 

  • Ensure adherence to organization policies and practices 

Requirements: 

  • BA/BS required 

  • Prior supervisory and training  experience preferred 

  • Preferred experience in project management; proven ability to manage projects to completion 

  • Background in supporting people with I/DD or mental health needs preferred 

  • Flexibility in availability for work hours 

  • Valid Driver’s License (NY/NJ preferred) 

  • Tuberculosis test mandatory for most positions (provided FREE of charge by our Premier Healthcare clinic)
