ABOUT THE JOB
As part of the PATH Enterprises, the PATH Enterprises Maintenance Technician under close supervision is responsible for performing routine duties as assigned for a wide variety of repairs, preventative maintenance, facility upkeep and safe operation of People Assisting the Homeless owned and leased facilities.  Assignments may include painting, plumbing, HVAC, simple electrical work, light construction, documentation of repairs. The Maintenance Technician I will apply all basic facilities maintenance service principles, methods, technique, tools and equipment practices to comply with safety and sanitation standards, as well as applicable local, state and federal regulations 

Position Responsibilities: 

  •  Perform a variety of semi-skilled building maintenance duties involved in the repair and maintenance of facilities and grounds; perform and assist in building and maintenance tasks involving plumbing, carpentry, remodeling, painting, and a variety of other craft work 
  • Responsible for the upkeep of facility. This includes maintaining the grounds and buildings. Common areas, dumpster and trash areas need to be kept clean and liter free. 
  • Assist with the turnover of rental units, including painting, cleaning, and minor renovations. Install, repair, and replace hinges, locks, and deadbolts; make keys as necessary. 
  • Install, repair, and maintain lavatories, sinks, wash basins, toilets, urinals, foundations, grease traps, drains, gas and electric water heaters, water filters, water tanks, and pumps, chlorinator systems, hot water heaters and HVAC units, and other plumbing systems and fixtures. 
  •  Replace and/or repair linoleum, ceramic tiles, base boards, and carpeting. Steam-clean or shampoos carpets, if needed. 
  • Perform light masonry work including mixing mortar and setting, truing, and finishing. 
  • Perform and record systematic preventative maintenance processes including, but not limited to building audits, and equipment. Ensure all scheduled Preventative Maintenance (PM) tasks are completed in a timely fashion. 
  • Inspect assigned facilities for compliance with Safety Standards. Maintain neat, clean and organized maintenance shop and storage areas. 
  •  Monitor ticketing system for and respond to safety-related projects immediately, resolving the issue within and/or ensuring proper precautions are taken to keep participants, staff, and visitors safe until a permanent resolution is completed. Complete work orders in a timely manner and maintain accurate records of work performed. 
  •  Perform initial clean up and final detailed cleaning of apartment unit turnovers, including but not limited to: refrigerators, and range/ovens; exhaust fans and filters; counters, counter-tops and cabinets; sinks, vanities, tubs and showers; walls, hard surface floors and carpets; doors and windows; utility closets. 
  • Participate as directed in emergencies including, but not limited to, fires, earthquakes, and gas leaks, and respond to ensure management is aware and that participants, staff, and visitors are kept safe during such incidents (e.g., shut off utility mains, help evacuate staff).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED certificate. 
  • Basic mathematical skills with fluency in reading. 
  • 2 years of multi-family apartment maintenance experience.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • All levels of experience and education welcome

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS
Regardless of qualifications, candidates must:

  • Have employment eligibility verification
  • Have or be able and willing to obtain CPR/First Aid training
  • Successfully complete the following as a condition of hire:
    • Tuberculosis Test
    • Background Screening
    • Drug Test

Driving is an essential function of this position. To meet the employment requirements for this role, all candidates must: 

  • Have reliable transportation
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Proof of insurance and ownership for personal vehicles used during work duties
  • The ability to qualify for PATH's insurance coverage
