Location: Cherokee Farm, Gentry, AR

Schedule: Sunday - Wednesday, including holidays and weekends

Hours: 7:00 am– 5:00 pm

Work schedule is subject to change based upon production needs.

$16.50 plus, additional shift differential for evenings, nights and weekends

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for picking up, delivering and inspecting eggs to determine quality and fitness for incubation; cleaning/sanitizing and storing eggs under controlled conditions in egg facility; keeping up-to-date and accurate records of all inventories; and cleaning and maintaining the Egg Facility.  Other duties may be assigned. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Pick up and deliver eggs from chicken houses to egg facility (20%)
  • Setup and run eggs through egg sanitizer (10%)
  • Transfer eggs from farm flats to hatchery flats (15%)
  • Place hatching eggs in buggies and boxes and properly label both for internal/external orders (10%)
  • Properly performs egg inventory practices and records daily inventory transactions into excel spreadsheet and CHS (10%)
  • Observes shell color/texture and external characteristics such as streaks, shadings, discolorations, cracks (10%)
  • Clean and sanitize farm egg flats (5%)
  • Remove waste (eggshells, feathers, feces, etc); clean and sanitize egg room, connecting areas, crates and flats (10%)

Other duties, responsibilities and activities:

  • Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice, such as:  laundry, monitors, controls, and records proper egg room temperatures and humidity controls, check flocks on farm when needed (10%)

Biosecurity/Animal Welfare/Safety Requirements:

  • The jobsite is a bio secure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility.  Appropriate clothing and footwear are provided by the Company.  No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing.  Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Physical:  Must use safe lifting techniques.  Must regularly lift 65 pounds repetively up to 100 times per day such as a tray of eggs and/or tools; and occasionally moves up to 2500 pounds such as a wheeled buggy. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand majority of shift (concrete floor); walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel objects and controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; climbing/ladder usage; stoop/bend up to 1000 times per day; talk or hear; drive a vehicle within the farm complex.  Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Tools and Equipment:  Egg Sanitizer, cleaning equipment
  • Environment:  Required to work on wet, slippery surfaces and also work in hot, dry, dusty, wet, icy, snowy and cold environments.
  • Personal Protective Equipment Required:  Safety goggles and/or glasses, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, and company issued footwear are required.  Ear plugs will be used as required.   NIOSH approved N95 particulate respirators will be worn as needed. 
  • Chemicals Commonly Used:  Disinfectants such as Virocid, Lysol, bleach, Glutex 2, etc.
  • Safety: Team member is expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures. These include but are not limited to Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, LOTO and Personal Protective Equipment. Team member is expected to identify, address and mitigate safety related risks.
