A Day in the Life

This position is an exciting opportunity to work with Medtronic's Diabetes business. Medtronic has announced its intention to separate the Diabetes division to promote future growth and innovation within the business and reallocate investments and resources across Medtronic, subject to applicable information and consultation requirements. This separation provides our team with a bold opportunity to unleash our potential, enabling us to operate with greater speed and agility. As a separate entity, we anticipate leveraging increased investments to drive meaningful innovation and enhance our impact on patient care.
As a Principal Technical Analyst, you will provide support and troubleshooting for MES, ERP, labeling and shop floor production systems across manufacturing environments. Support system configurations, testing, validation (including MSCM and security patches), and deployment of IT solutions. Collaborate with business users to gather requirements and deliver tailored analytics, data extractions, and insights for decision-making. Conduct root cause analysis and support CAPA, Non-Conformances (NC), and other quality and compliance initiatives. Participate in solution design and provide consulting for system enhancements and process improvements.
The Principal Technical Analyst is expected to demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, a foundational understanding of regulated manufacturing environments (e.g., FDA 21 CFR Part 11, GMP), and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced production setting. You will play an essential role in ensuring system integrity, data accuracy, and adherence to validated processes. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Manufacturing, Quality, IT, and Engineering to support the deployment of digital solutions, troubleshoot system issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

Full On-site position

  • Consults with business stakeholders to understand and evaluate current business processes and identify complex business problems and needs turning those needs into system requirements.
  • Provides technical expertise for system functional specifications and deploys new and current systems, processes and procedures in a cost-effective manner.
  • May configure system settings and options; plan and execute unit, system, and integration testing to meet business requirements.
  • May lead cross-functional linked teams to address business or systems issues.
  • Delivers and/or manages projects assigned and works with other stakeholders to achieve desired results.
  • May act as a mentor to colleagues or may direct the work of other lower-level professionals.
  • The majority of time is spent delivering and overseeing the projects – from design to implementation - while and adhering to policies, using specialized knowledge and skills normally acquired through advanced education.
  • Exercises considerable latitude in determining deliverables of assignments, with limited oversight from manager.
  • Coaches, reviews and delegates work to lower-level specialists.
  • Contributes to defining the direction for new products, processes, standards, or operational plans based on business strategy with a significant impact on work group results.
  • May manage large projects or processes that span outside of immediate job area.
  • Problems and issues faced are difficult, moderately complex and undefined, and require detailed information gathering, analysis and investigation.
  • Develops solutions to moderately complex problems, and/or makes moderate to significant improvements of processes, systems or products independently to enhance performance of job area. Implements solutions to problems.
  • Represents organization as a primary contact for specific projects and initiatives; communicates with internal and external customers and vendors at various levels.
  • May negotiate with others to reach understanding or agreement, and influence decision-making.
  • Typically provides guidance, coaching and training to other employees within job area.
  • Typically manages major / moderately complex projects, involving delegation of work and review of work products, at times acting as a team leader.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Requires Bachelor’s Degree
  • Requires minimum of 7+ years of experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience or 12+ years of experience with a high school diploma or equivalent.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience supporting Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)
  • Experience in software validation using MSCM (or similar methodology)
  • Strong communication skills and partner with employees, clients, upper management, and vendors
  • Strong results orientation (driving to deadlines, financial targets, project goals, etc.)
  • Lean Sigma/Six Sigma – DMAIC Methodology
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Strong decision-making skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Excellent presentation skills including the ability to translate highly technical information into business terminology
