About you and this role

Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Natural Gas Scheduling​ Specialist, located in Houston, Texas.


This is a critical role which supports the timely scheduling and accurate reconciliation and invoicing of natural gas consumed at the 8 U.S. Gulf Coast sites: Freeport, Plaquemine, Sabine River, Beaumont, Texas City, Seadrift, St. Charles and Deer Park. These sites consume about 900,000 BBTUs of natural gas per day fueling the power plants and critical utilities for these sites.


Responsibilities

  • Accountable for daily scheduling of natural gas nominations and confirmations based on the committed supply plan set by commercial (purchase/sell quantities)
  • Provides internal and external support for natural gas supply changes required to balance demand as result of unplanned events. This includes on-call responsibilities
  • Responsible for maintaining third party exchange balances in order to identify most beneficial operational swing sources for supply planning
  • Supports preparation for the first of month supply review by reviewing base supply plan per site, ensure alignment with known outages and forecasted demand and clarify any questions related to application of the deal (i.e. allocations between counterparties, base load vs swing, etc)
  • Coordinates and verifies that natural gas pipeline outage supply plans are executed per plan with customers, suppliers, field operations, commercial managers and commercial coordinators
  • Provide direction to Dow Gulf Coast Pipeline personnel for natural gas distribution, including forecast of nominations and any special operational provisions needed by the Dow sites
  • Accountable to provide actualized volumes per site and per counterparty for all associated deals in Allegro. This includes ensuring all pipelines and points are up to date in Allegro
  • Generating and maintaining allocation spreadsheets used for Volume Analyst duties in the invoice reconciliation work process
  • Performs invoice reconciliation for sites scheduled. This includes identifying, escalating and resolving volume discrepancies while working with the appropriate parties and cross-functional reviews to ensure on-time invoice payments
  • Maintains positive working relationships with Commercial Coordinators, Commercial Managers, Dow GCPL personnel, counterparties and pipeline carriers regarding daily scheduling issues for optimal resolution
  • Provide backup support for daily natural gas forecasts and give direction to commercial where same day supply changes should be considered, includes interacting with the site energy planners
  • Drives continuous improvement by periodically reviewing and providing recommendations to enhance the natural gas distribution network

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E5 ranking or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant.

  • A minimum of 3 years relevant experience in a Supply Chain, Manufacturing or related Environment

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of the US Natural Gas market is preferred

  • A degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or other related Sciences is preferred

  • Supply Chain Planning (SCP): The ability to coordinate natural gas nominations, confirmations, and daily supply adjustments to ensure timely, accurate delivery and alignment with site demand, outages, and commercial supply plans.
  • Analytical Thinking: The capability to interpret operational data, evaluate allocation spreadsheets, reconcile volumes, identify discrepancies, and make data‑driven recommendations that support accurate billing and effective supply decisions.
  • Proactive Problem Solving: The skill of anticipating and responding to unplanned events, supply disruptions, or pipeline outages by rapidly assessing options, engaging stakeholders, and implementing corrective actions to balance demand.
  • Communication: The ability to clearly and effectively interact with commercial managers, coordinators, pipeline personnel, counterparties, and site planners to resolve scheduling issues, clarify deal details, and ensure aligned execution.
  • Microsoft Excel: Proficiency in building, maintaining, and using allocation spreadsheets and operational tracking tools to support scheduling accuracy, invoice reconciliation, and forecasting processes.

  • Relocation Assistance is not available with this position

  • This position requires candidate to work during the evening timeframe (From 1PM-10PM US Central Time). It is essential to note that for training purposes, candidates will be required to attend to training sessions during daylight hours (8AM to 5PM US Central) on Site for a minimum of six months.
