Your New Role and Responsibilities

As a Senior DigMod Solution Architect/Engineering Manager, you will operate with a high degree of autonomy, shaping and influencing the development of innovative, mission-critical solutions that directly impact strategic program goals and business outcomes.

Working closely with account management, capture teams, engineering, and customer stakeholders, you will demonstrate strong leadership and initiative - leading the definition of solution architecture, technical strategy and end-to-end design across complex secure cloud and infrastructure environments.  You will also have digital experience and enterprise observability thinking.

This is not simply a design role. It requires the agility to navigate ambiguity, disrupt conventional thinking where required, and confidently propose forward-looking solutions that strengthen mission and commercial outcomes. You will act as a thought leader across engagements - consulting with executive stakeholders, shaping direction and driving transformation with clarity and authority.

This role extends beyond cloud operations and migration - it requires a deep appreciation of digital transformation, testing, troubleshooting, cyber hardening and debugging of enhancements and new software-intensive systems. You will apply appropriate principles, standards, processes, procedures and tools across the lifecycle to ensure secure, scalable and resilient outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead solution architecture, technical strategy and design across secure cloud, infrastructure, digital experience and enterprise observability.

  • Propose, consult on and deliver innovative solutions that accelerate mission outcomes and drive measurable program impact.

  • Conduct requirements analysis and assess hardware, cloud and as-a-service suitability.

  • Develop, select, integrate and guide products, enabling tools and platforms that enhance speed, scale, security and mission value delivery.

  • Support and shape complex cloud migration journeys by defining workload assessment criteria, methodologies and innovative solution approaches.

  • Drive highly innovative solutions through research, integration of best practices and collaboration with internal, vendor and customer stakeholders.

  • Influence executive-level stakeholders (internal and client) on matters of strategic importance, confidently articulating new concepts, practices and approaches.

  • Lead and manage the work of other technical professionals, setting direction and elevating capability across capture activities, project mobilisation and delivery.

  • Guide research and development initiatives, translating emerging technologies and market innovation into mission-ready capabilities.

  • Partner with customer architecture, CTO and operational teams to define long-term IT strategies and transformation roadmaps.

  • Act as a trusted subject matter expert across technical, mission and commercial domains in presales, business development and strategic engagements.

  • Work with the ‘greater’ Leidos by building strong strategic relationships with our International teams to assist in repatriating capability.

You will regularly resolve highly complex problems requiring deep technical knowledge, conceptual reasoning and collaborative problem solving. Your solutions will not only deliver - they will challenge, improve and, where necessary, disrupt existing approaches to create stronger mission outcomes.

What You’ll Bring to Make an Impact

  • Ideally 10 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree (or 10–13 years with a Master’s), in engineering, IT or related discipline.

  • Proven experience shaping and delivering large-scale cloud and ITSM transformation programs with measurable mission and commercial outcomes.

  • Deep expertise in solution architecture across mission software, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP or Oracle), infrastructure, platforms and hybrid environments.

  • Experience with Deployed Information Environments

  • Strong understanding of automation, AIOps and Enterprise Observability practices including testing, cyber hardening, troubleshooting, services integration and systems integration.

  • Experience operating as a senior technical leader influencing executive stakeholders and shaping strategic direction.

  • Demonstrated initiative, ownership and accountability, with the confidence and ability to propose, consult, deliver and lead change.

  • Demonstrated capability leading technical teams across captures, R&D initiatives, mobilisation and complex program delivery.

  • Experience working within government, defence, intelligence or similarly regulated environments (highly regarded).

  • A strong sense of ownership, accountability and delivery focus.

Don’t worry if you don’t tick every box - if you meet most of them, we encourage you to apply. We’re most interested in your strengths, growth mindset, leadership mindset and ambition.

This role requires Australian Citizenship and an active NV-1 security clearance, with willingness to upgrade to NV-2.
