This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.

As part of a hardworking team of diverse engineers, technicians, and specialists, you will be responsible for working closely with engineering design and Launch Operations to support all launch vehicle integration and launch operations efforts for processing space flight hardware. This includes simultaneously defining and planning the launch vehicle integration and launch operations work. In this mid-level position, you will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of Blue Origin’s Orbital Launch Site and requires strong drive, attention to detail, organization, working long hours, and the ability to multi-task.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop work order authoring standards and templates in Jules and Bill of Materials configuration in Windchill for mission operations.
  • Work with vehicle and operations engineers to write work orders to accomplish vehicle assembly, integration, check out, and test/launch operations.
  • Take ownership over configuration management of flight hardware, reconciling engineering bill or materials with manufacturing bill of materials.
  • Support hardware integration on the floor and solve issues as they arise throughout the day.
  • Management of work order instance from creation to completion.
  • Manage the transition from production to operations by tracking required configuration, traveled work, and as-built records of flight hardware.
  • Forecast and develop get-well plans for gating hardware installation critical to integration and launch schedules.
  • Define system requirements for manufacturing software and work with the development team to iterate and introduce new functionality within Jules and Windchill platforms and integration with third party systems.
  • Other duties as assigned or otherwise beneficial to fulfilling the mission and vision

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Industrial Engineering or other relevant field
  • Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, and specifications and translate into written work instructions and test procedures.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or launch operations environment.
  • Experience working with a manufacturing execution system (MES).
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma processes and implementation.
  • Strong written, interpersonal, and computer skills. Customer focus, with demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and appropriately at the executive leadership level and shop floor.
  • Ability to work effectively with a strong work ethic and close attention to detail in a fast-paced dynamic team environment with rapidly changing roles and responsibilities.
  • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills and a proven ability to drive complex projects with minimal oversight.
  • Able to work off-shift, extended hours, and weekends if/when necessary
  • Must be able to pass the security background check to work at federal reservations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years supporting assembly and/or integration of complex engineering systems (i.e., launch vehicles, spacecraft, aircraft, naval platforms, etc) including multiple subsystems (including avionics, fluids, pneumatics, and mechanical).
  • Experience in Jules as an MES and Windchill as a product lifecycle management system.
  • Experience in developing and implementing a procedure/work order authoring system.
  • Experience in developing a production control system or process flow architecture.
  • Proven experience and successful track record in support of a matrix organization.
  • Experience with safety critical systems.
  • Proven record of implementation of company-wide process improvements.
