About the Role:

We are looking to hire an Associate Director, Paid Media to lead the strategy, management, and optimization across Search, Social, Display/Programmatic and App campaigns for The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), which is the definitive source of news and information through the lens of business, finance, economics and money, global forces that shape the world and are key to understanding it.

As Associate Director, reporting to the Senior Director, Paid Media, you will manage a team of digital growth marketers, oversee all in-house paid media operations dedicated to acquiring WSJ subscribers, and work cross-functionally with teams across the marketing organization including, but not limited to, Acquisition, Engagement, Retention, Brand, and Audience.

You Will:

  • Work on-site in our midtown Manhattan office 3 days each week.
  • Manage a team of paid media managers and associates.
  • Oversee and drive the holistic strategic vision of in-house media campaigns across Meta, X, LinkedIn, Snapchat; Google, Bing; PMax, DV360; and App DSPs for WSJ.
  • Optimize media spend of ~$50M+ across platforms and markets to increase audience reach and maximize acquisition volume.
  • Develop, test, and share performance results with Acquisition and Creative teams to inform direction on creative offers, etc.
  • Implement measurement strategies to drive incrementality and improve efficiency.
  • Partner with Newsroom, Brand and Acquisition teams on marketing initiatives to develop a full-funnel media strategy across platforms.
  • Work with the Marketing Audience team on implementing new MarTech and advancing paid media reporting.
  • Present paid media strategy and performance to key stakeholders and SLT within the Performance Marketing team.
  • Support Senior Director, Paid Media in evaluating the overall value (costs, benefits, competitive analysis) of each tech platform, as well as proposed opportunities to execute and expand on the relationships.

You Have:

  • The willingness to work in our midtown Manhattan office 3 days each week
  • 10+ years of experience working in B2C digital media-based roles across paid search, paid social, display, programmatic, and other channels
  • Experience managing an annual budget of at least $30 million
  • Experience managing a team of direct reports and working with several cross-functional partners
  • Expertise media buying on Google, Bing, Meta, X, LinkedIn and Snapchat
  • In-depth experience with G-suite tech stack (GA4, DV360, CM360, SA360)
  • B2C subscription marketing experience is preferred
  • App acquisition experience is preferred
  • A bachelor's degree in marketing or business administration is preferred

Pay Range: $130,000 - $160,000
