What you will do

This scope of this position is global and is responsible to support the definition, development, and delivery of a standardised methodology, addressing the design processes followed during the chiller product development and subsequent sustaining activities within the Chiller Solutions line of business. 

Design process areas in scope for this role pertain to the global activities required to develop new products as well as to sustain existing ones. These activities could include anything in the chain of product development activities, ex: required design documentation, design for manufacturing/design for quality, design guides, engineering order manual (EOM), 3D models and 2D drawings, bill of materials (BOM), order configurators, ERP systems content, etc. 

A key focus of this role will be to support the design automation team and understand their requirements and challenges to ensure they are successful in implementing an automation roadmap. 

The successful candidate will support efforts to standardise design-related processes and help to enforce those processes globally. 

How you will do it

Chiller design standardisation 

  • Document/maintain existing Chiller design processes by participating in discovery workshops, applying knowledge of Chiller design, participating in design for manufacturing reviews, conferring with Chiller Solutions peers, soliciting inputs from manufacturing centers & design centers, etc. 
  • Document/maintain design rules, guidelines, templates, etc. and formalise into a standardised design methodology whose cadence embeds into the existing PDP/D3 process. 
  • Act as product line(s) architect in all design related efforts for product standardisation – ex: engineering order manual (EOM) structure, 3D model and 2D drawing structure, bill of material (BOM) standardised structure, etc.

Design Automation and Productivity  

  • Contribute to the development of generic, cross-product line tools, templates, and data structures that the design automation team will require to execute their strategy. 
  • Provide recommendations on how to deploy and use standardised design methodology. Support deployment activities and contribute to testing and training activities as requested.
  • Global process change coordinator 
  • Provide guidance and support to the Chiller Solutions teams through the change journey 
  • Be enthusiastic about embracing the change and helping the organisation becoming more efficient 

What we look for

Essential

  • 10 years’ experience and strong familiarity with product businesses, equipment design, documentation, and manufacturing of configurable products
  • Minimum of 10 years’ hands-on experience as a designer 
  • Associate in Specialised Technology Degree
  • Mastery of 3D Modeling software (Creo, Solidworks, Inventor)
  • Travel up to 10% of the time.

Preferred

  • Experience with 2D Autocad (especially Electrical)
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP, MAPICS, AS/400)
  • Experience with bill of material configurators (eLogia, VC)
  • Experience with automation coding (Smart Assembly, VBA. 
  • Microsoft Office applications are preferred.
