Senior Associate Engineer – Air Breathers and OCV/CCV Lines

 As a Senior Associate Engineer with Large Power Systems Division (LPSD), you will have an opportunity to direct and contribute to the concept, development, and design of complex components, subsystems, or processes while strengthening your analytical skills and mastery of engineering concepts.  You will partner with and provide technical guidance to teams across the globe.  You will contribute to the planning and delivery of projects, continually learn, and stay abreast of innovative technology.

 This position is within the LPSD Air Systems team with responsibility for design and development of Air breathers and OCV/CCV Lines used on large diesel and gas engines. Projects span both new product design and current product updates and requires high technical proficiency, and a sense of urgency to complete the design & work extensively with Global suppliers to produce parts on time for fitment on the Engine as per prescribed program timeline. 

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Design and development of air breathers, open crankcase and closed crankcase ventilation lines and associated fabricated structures for large Diesel and Gas Engines.
  • Material selection & application.
  • Conceives and provides practical product design applications based on technical knowledge.
  • Collaborating with other engineering teams to define and meet product requirements.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project and validation plans.
  • Evaluate, define, and resolve design and manufacturing problems.
  • Use technical expertise and product knowledge to support the issue resolution process
  • Collaborate on design and validation with global suppliers.

 Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Production/Automobile Engineering curriculum and 3+ years of progressive work experience.
  • 1+ years of handling design of any air system related component.
  • Project experience in NPI (New Product Introduction) or CPI (Current Process Improvement)

 Top Candidates will also have:

  • 2+ years of handling design of crankcase ventilation components and/or system level design experience.
  • Master’s degree in an accredited Engineering curriculum or similar technical discipline.
  • Experience collaborating with suppliers utilizing the APQP process.
  • Knowledge for applying simulation tools in product development (FEA, CFD, CHT).
  • Proficiency with Creo (or equivalent) and Teamcenter.
  • Project experience in NTI (New Technology Introduction).
  • Leverage his/her experience for NSI (New supplier Introduction).
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

 Additional Information:

  • Location of this position is in Chennai, India.
  • This position may require less than 25% travel.
