Position: Campus Security Patrol

Reporting to: Director of Campus Security

Location: Bentonville, Arkansas

Art and Wellness Enterprises (AWE) is seeking a skilled, highly motivated, customer-service centered individual to join the team as Campus Security Patrol. AWE supports operating non-profits founded by Alice Walton including the Alice L. Walton Foundation, Alice L. Walton School of Medicine, Art Bridges Foundation, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, the Momentary, and the Heartland Whole Health Institute.

About the Position:

Campus Security Patrol plays a vital role in creating and maintaining a safe and secure environment for faculty, staff, guests, and students. This role is a public-facing position in the Campus Security department, spending most of its time in public areas of the facilities and grounds, interacting with team members, guests, and students. Security Patrol executes emergency response procedures when needed, including first aid, building and environmental emergency response, de-escalation, and coordinating with EMS/Fire/Police when on campus.

Strong communication, organizational and technological skills are required to simultaneously attend daily responsibilities, take charge in emergency situations, and support the security and safety needs of many campus-sponsored events.

Campus Security Patrol can expect to work evenings and weekends, including large events across multiple venues, regularly to support campus operations. This position is considered essential personnel as it is critical to the continuation of operations and services that directly relate to the safety, health, and welfare of the institution. Note that the general schedule for this position may consist of a rotating shift. Hours may extend past 12:30am and are subject to change depending on the needs of the campus entities.

What you will do:

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Patrol interior and outdoor spaces across the campus to establish presence.
  • Enforce policies and procedures so that they ensure a positive outcome for all and maintain customer service.
  • Attend pre-shift meetings and post-shift pass-downs to ensure continuous operations.
  • Respond to medical emergencies, provide basic first aid when necessary, and coordinate with Emergency Medical Services.
  • Respond to security and safety incidents, execute response procedures, and coordinate with Emergency Responders.
  • Respond to the safety and security emergencies, concerns, inquiries and complaints of faculty, staff, guests, and students.
  • Report security, personnel, and safety issues to the Campus Security Managers and Director.
  • Inspect safety and security equipment weekly and remedy failures or weaknesses by appropriate procedural means.
  • Secure the Facilities and outdoor venues based on hours of operation, checking all exits, high-value interior area, doors, and gates during and after operational hours, as specified for each building.
  • Conduct guard tours after operational hours to ensure the facilities are secured and free of any security or environmental concerns or otherwise abnormal conditions.
  • Provide daily activity reports and contribute to official Security Reports as needed using data from various sources.
  • Maintain proficiency in Campus Security related software and systems, access control and CCTV systems, fire alarm control panels, and other building systems as designated.
  • Act as a primary contact for communications with other departments in matters related to Campus Security responsibilities.
  • Perform other departmental duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties of a Control Room Operator.
  • Proactively seek and obtain information regarding Campus and Facility policies/promotions, activities, and events to provide a high level of customer service.
  • Report to work punctually, dressed in approved uniform and fully prepared for each scheduled shift.
  • Required to work in all scenarios including overnight shifts, campus closures, inclement weather and holidays due to essential personnel status.

Qualifications required for your success:

  • Ability to pass background check and other requirements to be registered as a Security Guard in Arkansas.
  • High School diploma, bachelor's degree or equivalent industry training preferred.
  • Driver’s license required.
  • Proficient level experience with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong documentation and/or report writing skills.
  • Highest ethics as they relate to all aspects of business.  
  • Enthusiastic about being a member of a facilities team at a major community center. 
  • Excellent people and customer service skills that are based on respect and approachability. 
  • Strong organizational skills.  
  • Demonstrated knowledge of safety equipment and procedures.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with a wide array of personalities and attitudes.
  • Knowledge of ACS, IDS, CCTV and/or Fire Control systems desirable.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain First Responder, CPR and other related certifications on a yearly basis
  • Be physically able to administer First Aid and CPR including carrying first aid equipment and assisting with lifting and moving victims if required.

Physical demands: In the work environment described, position requires verbal and written conversation with others, sitting, standing, walking, bending, climbing, reaching, strenuous lifting/moving objects up to 75 pounds, and use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. This position requires good visual acuity to perform the duties assigned.   

    

Work Environment: Work will be performed in an office environment, museum spaces, construction site, classrooms, libraries, trails, and nature, and in communities served. Work environment may include exposure to potentially hazardous chemical solutions. While performing this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. Incumbents must meet a flexible work schedule that may include evenings, overnights, and weekends.
