Job Summary:
We are currently looking to add to our team with an exciting opportunity as Director, Retail Insurance Accounting Lead. This position will report to the Senior Vice President, Acrisure Business Services. The Director, Retail Insurance Accounting Lead role will have an expert understanding of insurance agency accounting, acquisition accounting, corporate accounting, and finance processes. This role will oversee all accounting services in the division ensuring deliverables to all key stakeholders are both accurate and timely, assisting with execution of strategies set by Home Office Strategic Functional Leaders cohesively and consistently with excellence.
The ideal candidate must be hands on, have excellent organizational and people management skills, and enjoy working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. We are a relationship-oriented business, and strong relationship and partnering skills are vital to this role. Previous extensive work experience in accounting is required, and experience in the insurance brokerage or a related industry is required.
Responsibilities:
Oversee daily transaction processing across cash application/receivables, direct bill, carrier payables, producer/broker payables, and invoicing with activity processed through an agency management system (Applied EPIC). Ensure that transactions are recorded in an accurate, timely, and efficient manner and in accordance with SOX controls and GAAP, as well as Service Level Agreements and within all required metrics.
Support the integration of new Acrisure Partners into the accounting processes.
Assist with year-end procedures. Act as liaison between Acrisure Partners and auditors as required. Assist with gathering information required for timely and accurate 1099 filing.
Partner with Operational Excellence team to ensure all accounting functions are executed with excellence and issues are resolved with long term sustainable resolutions, providing operational support as needed.
Ensure open and transparent lines of communication with all key stakeholders including Division Directors in the field, Heads of Finance in FP&A, as well as all other departments, including Corporate Accounting, ensuring transactional processes remain in accordance with GAAP and SOX/internal controls.
Strive to ensure all accounting functions within the region/division are operating with excellence for Acrisure Partners by continually monitoring and improving operational processes and achieving high levels of performance.
Strong collaboration with leaders of Divisions and their leadership teams, as well as Mergers & Acquisitions, Financial Planning & Analysis, Treasury, Acquisition Accounting, and Corporate Accounting.
Review and approve process changes/continuous improvement in conjunction with operational excellence, prior to communication to the Acrisure Partners.
Keep performance on track by accurately scoping out projects, identifying priorities, and anticipating problems.
Understand and approve staffing needs aligned with the budget, metric targets, and future growth within the region.
Promote service excellence within a collaborative high performing team environment while motivating themselves, their peers, and their teams for strong results and quality work.
Work and collaborate with team to solve problems brought to their attention by the region/division and/or team.
Take responsibility for assigned division Acrisure Partner needs and hold self & team accountable for internal deadlines, outcomes, and results as well as sharing and aligning best practices across divisions.
Understand the strengths and weaknesses of your team, providing guidance for balancing the needs for development and efficiency. Is an integral part of the ABS leadership team and, as such, has responsibility of the overall engagement and success of ABS.
Provide prompt, accurate, courteous, “best in class” service excellence to partners, insurance companies, leadership team and all staff.
Ability to lead teams through transition and change, ensuring smooth integration of processes.
Mentorship and professional development of team members to strengthen talent within the organization.

Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Business required (Accounting preferred); MBA or CPA preferred.
Minimum 10-15 years of experience in an accounting, auditing and/or financials analysis required.
Insurance brokerage/financial services, or related industry accounting background, required.
Experience leading high performing teams is required. Experience managing leaders preferred
Experienced with managing various accounting functions with robust understanding of accounting concepts and GAAP.
Applied EPIC platforms or similar agency management software experience required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) required.
Workday (or equivalent ERP) experience is preferred.
