The Opportunity:

Role Summary 

The Ontology Product Lead owns the enterprise semantic layer—ontologies, taxonomies, reference data, and knowledge graphs—that enable consistent, interoperable, and AI-ready data across the organization. This senior product role drives strategy, roadmap, governance, lifecycle, and cross-domain adoption, with specific impact across Commercial, R&D, Medical and Corporate functions. You ensure semantic assets are reusable, governed, scalable, and directly improve analytics, data quality, and AI performance. 

Key Responsibilities 

Product Strategy & Roadmap 

• Define and execute the enterprise strategy for ontologies and semantic assets. 

• Build a multi-year roadmap aligned to business priorities, interoperability goals, and AI/analytics needs. 

• Lead the Ontology & Semantics Community of Practice (CoP). 

Cross-Domain Enablement (AI, Data, Platforms) 

• Enable data products, AI/ML, RAG/GenAI, and analytics through canonical models and semantic standards. 

• Ensure seamless integration with EDB/Data Marketplace, data catalog/lineage, and MDM. 

• Drive adoption through reusable patterns, semantic APIs, and business-friendly consumption experiences. 

Governance & Lifecycle (Build–Maintain–Consume) 

• Establish governance for semantic assets: ownership, versioning, change control, and compliance. 

• Oversee lifecycle management, quality standards, and mappings to internal and external reference data. 

• Ensure adherence to privacy, security, and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR/CCPA). 

Integration & Interoperability 

• Harmonize internal and vendor data (IQVIA, Komodo, Symphony) through canonical definitions and mappings. 

• Define end-to-end semantic data flows across CRM, sales, marketing, analytics, and platform ecosystems. 

Analytics, Insights & AI Enablement 

• Partner with Data Science/I&A to deliver ontology-backed KPIs, semantic layers, and improved model accuracy. 

• Enhance discoverability, explainability, and reusability of enterprise data. 

Stakeholder Engagement 

• Act as the primary advocate for semantic products across business, architecture, governance, and engineering teams. 

• Lead stakeholder alignment and drive organization-wide adoption of semantic standards. 

Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering and enterprise analytics systems.
• Ability to operate effectively in fast-moving environments with ambiguity, rapidly iterating on solutions.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across business, engineering, and AI teams.
• Self-directed, outcome-oriented, and comfortable owning end-to-end data engineering delivery.
