About the team:

The eBay Global Emerging Market (HiPO, India, and SEA) team seeks a strategic individual to lead as BU Head – Categories & Seller Operations. We're pioneering new business ventures across emerging markets, establishing eBay as the premier export-oriented marketplace for SMBs and brands.

The Role

Seeking a dynamic, data-driven leader to drive category growth and seller operations within assigned regions. Beyond operational oversight, you'll support the GM in annual strategic planning, executive reviews and global best practice implementation.

Required Qualities

  • Strategic Vision: Ability to develop and execute a long-term strategy for the growth and success of the assigned product categories.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilize analytics and market insights to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement within the category.
  • Commercial Acumen: Deep understanding of retail economics, pricing strategies, and revenue optimization techniques to drive profitability within the category.
  • Vendor Management: Experience in sourcing, negotiating, and managing relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure a diverse and high-quality product assortment.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with various teams including marketing, operations, and finance to align category strategies with overall business objectives.
  • Customer-Centric Approach: Prioritize customer satisfaction by understanding their needs, preferences, and behaviours, and tailoring category offerings accordingly.
  • Leadership: Inspire and motivate a team of category managers and specialists, providing guidance, coaching, and mentorship to drive performance and growth.
  • Results Orientation: Demonstrated track record of delivering measurable results and achieving business objectives within the assigned category.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities to identify challenges, develop innovative solutions, and overcome obstacles in category management.
  • PowerPoint and Executive Deck Making: Proficiency in creating compelling presentations and executive decks to effectively communicate strategies, performance metrics, and insights to stakeholders

Your contribution:

  • Category Management
    • Develop annual and quarterly plans for specific rollup categories and geographies.
    • Strategically prioritize partnership opportunities for new supply onboarding.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and assess support needed for successful execution of category plans.
    • Conduct regular reviews of weekly and quarterly performance metrics to track progress against category objectives and KPIs
  • Seller Operations
    • Drive seller eBay Seller playbook for growth.
    • Run seller engagement and seller training for marketplace seller
    • Drive Seller NPS
    • Drive continuous seller performance improvement projects based on data insights
  • Leadership Team
    • Facilitate key processes such as long-term strategic planning and strategy development: Collaborate with the GM and other key stakeholders to support the development  the BU's overall strategic direction and objectives.
    • Support the GM in Executive Reviews and Business operating plans.

Your Experience

  • Post-Graduation required; MBA preferred
  • 12+ years of experience in running and managing operations for an MNC across time zones.
  • 8+ years of leadership experience in Category management, sales, business development, or partner management within the ecommerce or technology sectors, with exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent relationship builder with strong positive attitude
  • Ability to both plan and execute
  • Challenge and negotiate with partners where required while maintaining positive relationships
  • Work within a dynamic environment and balance multiple priorities.
  • Capable of excelling in a changing environment
