Job Description:

The Manager, Marketing Technology is a key member of the Growth & Performance team working cross-functionally to deliver the Martech capabilities to improve Sun Life’s acquisition efforts.  

 

We seek a technology-oriented marketer that strives to create best-in-class customer experiences with every interaction. You will be joining this team at an exciting stage in our digital transformation journey and will play an important role in driving new capabilities. 

 

Cross-functional projects will focus on CRM enhancements, marketing automation integrations, prospect journey enhancements, lead scoring and nurturing frameworks.   

 

This role manages relationships across Sun Life including the Project Management Office, IT, Analytics, Marketing and other internal partners, delivering a high level of business performance.  Success in this role requires critical thinking with a passion for solving business problems, effective communication with experience working with senior leaders and a knack for staying abreast of current and emerging industry trends  

Main Accountabilities:
 

  • In partnership with the Director, the Manager will define the future state operating model of Marketing campaigns to produce more personalized campaigns at scale using Martech 

  • Consult with performance marketing teams to optimize digital marketing campaigns leveraging MarTech capabilities.  

  • Developing business rules within MarTech systems to allow performance marketing teams to target high value prospects 

  • Developing automated triggers and programs to proactively communicate with high value leads  

  • Builds the strategy to combine and merge data from various sources for both always-on journeys and individual campaigns 

  • Identify current and future performance marketing needs and integrations, define business requirements and secure necessary stakeholder support 

  • Monitor the end-to-end performance of the Growth & Performance Marketing Technology strategy, proactively identifying and driving delivery of tactical performance opportunities and fixes.  

  • Act as team SME for our MMM (Marketing Mix Model) model partnering with internal teams to establish best in class practices for data collection, data centralization, data processing, data analysis & activation 

  • Actively participate in Agile meetings and ensure assigned tasks are completed on time to support project deliverables  

  • Act as the Growth & Performance Marketing Team SME in platform development workstreams owned by internal and external partners, ensuring solutions are delivered to operational policies and requirements 

  • Provide support for MarTech solutions especially during upgrade/fixes outside of regular business hours 
     

Experience & Education

  • Experience with Salesforce and Adobe Campaign is essential.  

  • University degree in Marketing, Business, Data Science, or a related field; advanced degrees or certifications in marketing technology, data analytics or similar fields.

  • 7+ years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience 

  • Experience managing development of marketing operations programs in large corporate matrix structures – retail, financial services, customer service operations. 

  • Preference to candidates who have Agile and/or Project Management Certifications.  

  • Profound knowledge of the latest MarTech solution including experience with CRM systems, marketing automation platforms, CDPs, data visualization tools, and AI/machine learning applications 

Competencies

  • 7+ years in digital acquisition marketing, with a proven track record of driving user acquisition, activation, retention, or revenue growth through growth marketing practices 

  • Experience in development lifecycle from discovery to implementation 

  • Experience in Agile methodologies 

  • Ability to plan and execute development programs, managing cross-functional teams in a complex, matrixed environment 

  • Experience with Marketing Automation Platforms and batch scheduling tools (Responsys, Adobe, Marketo, Eloqua etc.) 

  • Experience with creation of automated audiences and segments for marketing campaigns and triggered journeys 

  • Strong knowledge of prospect media journeys and digital marketing platforms including but not limited to Google cloud, ad servers, GMP(Google marketing platform), programmatic ads, social media, CRM systems, marketing automation platforms, customer data platform (CDP), business intelligence platforms (Sisense) and analytics tools. 

  • Ability to motivate and inspire commitment to change without direct management accountability 

  • Strong critical thinking and organizational skills to prioritize workstreams, assess progress and deliver against competing objectives 

  • Self-starter with ability to define and lead cross-functional initiatives with minimal oversight 

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted.  It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.  In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.  Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
