Summary of Job Description

The position, Maintenance Mechanic B, is responsible for preventative and corrective maintenance; maintain and repair machinery and equipment (i.e., press brakes, punches, press, laser cutting systems, CNC machines, welding machines, etc.) and electrical power system within the manufacturing facility. This position requires solid trouble shooting skills, along with a solid understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical, mechanical, and computer-controlled systems.

Essential Functions

  • Installs, adjusts, and repairs production equipment and special purpose machines, including equipment’s electrical supply lines, piping and tubing, pneumatic controls and hydraulic systems.
  • Installs, adjusts, maintains and repairs control components (i.e. photo eyes, motor starters, relays, limit switches, etc.).
  • Inspects equipment for proper lubrication, tests performance, and performs general preventative maintenance duties.
  • Involved in using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Attends to work orders scheduled by supervisor.
  • Diagnoses equipment problems and refers complex situations to supervisor and higher-level mechanics.
  • Assists higher-level mechanics in diagnosing equipment-operating problems and making more difficult repairs, part replacements, and adjustments.
  • Solid experience in reading and interpreting electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic schematics.
  • Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills.
  • Regular attendance required.
  • May be required to perform other duties, responsibilities and functions that are assigned.
     

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education or minimum three (3) years experience in manufacturing maintenance or sheet metal fabrication equipment maintenance.
  • Valid driver’s license with class E qualification and clean driving record.
  • Must have solid math and computation skills.

Preferred Qualifications to complete Essential Functions

  • Solid knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical, mechanical, and computer-controlled systems.
  • Experience in operating a variety of hand tools and equipment.
  • Must actively participate as a member of the team and be willing to maintain high levels of productivity, occasionally sustaining longer working hours when necessary.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and adapt to changing work requirements.
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions.
  • Attention to detail and established procedures, along with being well organized.

  • Ability to work independently and safely with limited supervision.
  • Must have good vision, speech, hearing and physical ability to perform essential job functions.
  • Ability to lift up to 35lbs; >35 lbs requires two team members, and >65 lbs requires a lift device.
  • Ability to work while standing for long periods of time.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work on lifts, stoop and bend on a regular basis.
  • Sense of balance is required.
  • Limb and finger dexterity is required.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to perform twisting, turning, bending, climbing, pushing, and pulling motions.
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)—steel-toe shoes, safety glasses, vest.
     

Work Environment

Working conditions will be inside and outside where temperatures will vary from extreme heat to extreme cold for extended periods of time. This position is regularly exposed to vibration and loud noises.
