£33,000 - £38,000plus benefits

Reports to: Systems and Data Manager - CancerTools

Hours: Full time 35 hours per week – we are open to flexible working requests such as compressed hours.

Location: Stratford, London Office-based with high flexibility (1-2 days per week in the office)

Cancer Research UK are looking for a diligent, detail orientated Systems and Data Assistant to join their CancerTools team.

CancerTools.org, the research tools arm of CRUK, is a non-profit, global community of cancer researchers, academic institutes, and professional societies, with a shared mission to fund and accelerate cancer research. With a history of more than 40 years of managing and providing reagents to both academic and for-profit laboratories around the world, CancerTools.org has been steadfast in its mission of accelerating cancer research by making research tools widely and easily available.

CancerTools.org relies on data to make and execute business decisions to drive growth and benefit for our customers.  This role will be integral in ensuring data quality and maintenance of existing systems. You will be responsible for data entry, data quality and minor system automations /changes.  Although based in the Operations team, this role will also provide support to other teams – specifically customer service, business development and product management.

As this is a new role for the team it’s a real opportunity to shape what it looks like and evolve as the team does. CancerTools generate millions of pounds for our life saving research, the more reliable our data, the more efficiently we work and in turn the more income we generate.

What will I be doing?

  • Taking responsibility for and owning data quality across our different databases.

  • Cleansing and appending product, agreement and CRM data using Excel as well as other tools such as Insycle.

  • Supporting business development staff with uploading new product and agreement data onto our intellectual property management system. This will require some manual data entry as well as working with departments outside of CancerTools, so the ability to build and maintain good working relationships is essential.

  • Supporting product management and technical support staff with the upload of new products, as well as bulk edits where required using our HubSpot CRM and WooCommerce ecommerce system.

  • Creating reports and dashboards in HubSpot and Power BI.

  • Supporting the Systems & Data Manager with changes in HubSpot – such as updating properties and fields as well as creating workflows to facilitate automated data entry and communications.

  • Please note that CancerTools also has a laboratory site in Sandwich, Kent which you be required to occasionally visit for team and wider meetings. International travel may also be occasionally required to support with event attendance and to assist with your understanding of the business and wider market/customer needs.

What are you looking for?

  • Previous experience in administering databases, as well as experience in using a CRM system (HubSpot ideally but not essential).
  • Knowledge and understanding of workflow/automations for the creation/management of data.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel - knowledge and understanding of formulas and how to create, cleanse and append data within Excel is essential.
  • Inquisitive and detail oriented – with the ability to reference multiple datapoints and discuss with the data owners in order to locate and populate missing information.
  • Good communication and inter-personal skills are essential to  support teams outside of the department on a regular basis.
  • Experience in using data cleansing and de-duplication systems like Insycle is desirable but not essential as training can be provided.
  • Experience in using Microsoft Power BI is desirable but not essential as training can be provided.
