Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports.
  • Develop and implement  data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
  • Develop custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets.
  • Use predictive modelling to solve variety of Business Problems. 
  • Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems.
  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
  • Locate and define new process improvement opportunities.
  • Ability to cleanse, analyze large volume of data
  • Guide less experienced physicists/scientists.
  • Evaluate new technologies, pursue innovative solutions and evaluate competitors.
  • Conduct tests of new technologies under evaluation. Participate in feasibility studies of new technologies. 

Advanced

  • Assume ownership for existing signal processing algorithms, develop and test new signal processing algorithms
  • Develop basic instrument control software for prototype hardware
  • Optical modeling and analysis of spectral data

Functional Knowledge

  • Strong fundamental knowledge of optics, optical metrology and optical systems
  • Basic knowledge of control systems preferred
  • Working knowledge of MATLAB, LabView, Python preferred

Business Expertise

  • Understands key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work

Leadership

  • No supervisory responsibilities but provides informal guidance to new team members

  • Solves problems in straightforward situations; analyzes possible solutions using technical experience and judgment and precedents
