Continental Grain Company (Conti) seeks a Vice President, Direct Investments for its New York, NY location.

 

Duties: Deep Sector Research: Analyze, execute, and monitor a range of investments in the private equity, public and venture capital space. Regularly perform and present detailed, bottom-up analysis of new sectors, including global trends, Americas’ competitive advantage and global mapping of key players and potential investment opportunities for the team. Work with other members of the Investment Team in both private and public transactions to perform portfolio value creating initiatives and post-investment strategy and monitoring functions. New Investments: Lead commercial, financial, operational, and legal due diligence; execute, negotiate and close new investments. Conduct on-site due diligence and in-person meetings with founders, key shareholders, and c-suite executives. Portfolio Management: Collaborate closely with operating partners, external and in-house advisors, and the management team of portfolio companies to implement value creation plans. Collaborate with the management team of existing portfolio companies to identify opportunities for corporate development or add-on investments, where appropriate. Participate in Board meetings and relevant committees as part of ongoing value creation plans. Collaboration & New Relationships: Expand the firm’s network by introducing prospective partners and high-potential talent who can add value through future co-investments or employment with the company. Identify industry experts to assist with sourcing, share insights and best practices, and help with due diligence in relevant languages. Mentor junior team and assist in developing technical and interpersonal skills. Requirements Requires a Master’s degree in Finance, Business, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science or related field and 5 years of experience in job offered or related position in investment banking or direct investments. Alternatively, the employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in the stated fields and 7 years of progressive post-bachelor’s experience in the stated positions. Five (5) years of experience must include the following: performing deep sector research and data analysis to create broad sector investment theses utilizing specialized data sets, such as Euromonitor, Nielsen and SP CAPIQ; building complex financial models to assess existing and new investment opportunities for clients in the US; assisting clients in conducting commercial and financial due diligence; working closely with management in analyzing and developing value creation plans for acquisitions (synergy models and pro forma analysis), and assisting clients in negotiating and closing new investments or transactions.
