As a Nurse Assistant at Lurie Children's, you will be at the heart of our pediatric care team, making a difference each day by supporting other nursing staff in compassionate and top-quality patient care.

Nurse Assistants:
Help to warmly welcome families to the ambulatory clinic area.
Assist with taking and documenting vital signs, documentation of medical information, point of care testing, medical procedures, and intra hospital transport. All while ensuring that patients and their families are safe and comfortable.
NA also help nursing staff ensure that all medical equipment is stocked and in clean, working condition. That Medical waste is disposed of properly, rooms are neat and tidy and that patient rounds are made in a timely manner.
Gen. Med./Pulmonary Unit Information:
•48 bed unit with patients ranging in age from birth to young adulthood.
•Specialization in respiratory illnesses: asthma, RSV, flu, bronchiolitis, cystic fibrosis & pneumonia.
• Also care for a wide variety of patients with general medical needs including medically complex patients with chronic conditions & behavioral issues.
Position we are hiring for:
• Nightshift and every third weekend
• Staff must remain in current position for at least six months before qualifying for position changes
• Position openings for different start times will be released by the Scheduling Committee based off of unit needs; positions are filled by seniority
Minimum Qualifications:
1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
2. Successful completion of an accredited CNA Program.
3. Current certification as a CNA in the State of Illinois, active/good standing.
4. Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
5. One year experience in hospital setting required, pediatrics preferred.
Orientation:
•14 weeks of 1:1 precepted orientation
•Orientation classes including skills day, assessment classes, general medicine class day, behavioral health training (Welle), clinical exchanges, BLS & PALS.
