This Position reports to:

SEC Team Leader

 

In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to functional safety engineering and consulting activities across various project sizes and complexities, often in collaboration with senior engineers and project leads. You will carry out tasks efficiently and in line with contract specifications, safety standards, quality requirements, and cybersecurity policies. Your expertise will be reflected in the preparation of safety documentation, support of design activities, and technical input during project execution. 

This role is contributing to the work in Functional Safety related areas under ABB PAEN business area, generally in Oil & Gas with Chemicals & Pharma industries (but not limited to), being mainly assigned to highly interesting and technologically advanced Projects within European locations and beyond.  

Your Role and Responsibilities  

• Supporting and performing risk assessments such as HAZOP, LOPA, FMEA and development of Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) related documentation (SRS, SIL verification).  

• Contribution to the development and maintenance of Functional Safety consulting processes within ABB, including QMS systems.  

• Safety Instumented Systems Engineering (e.g., ABB AC800M HI) and development of project technical documentation in line with ABB FSM methodology.  

• Collaborating with internal teams and clients on technical solutions and participating in design workshops and SIS testing at Client premises abroad.  

Qualifications for the Role

• Degree in Automation, Chemical or Process Engineering 

• 5+ years of experience in Automation or Process industry (Oil&Gas, Chemical, Pharma) 

• Knowledge of Process and Functional Safety (IEC 61508, IEC61511, IEC 62061, IEC 61513)  

• Advanced level of English  

• Willingness to travel abroad 

• Knowledge of IEC 61131-3 PLC programming languages and distributed control systems solutions (DCS) (is considered an advantage) 

• Functional Safety certification i.e. FS Engineer TÜV Rheinland or exida (is considered an advantage)
