Who are we?

The aim of the Global Costing Department is to control the vehicle lifecycle cost. These control processes allow the business to maximize profit. Our mission is to develop and maintain a world-class Cost Management capability for Nissan to enable our business to continue growing globally.

Purpose

To use, improve, and develop reporting tools and systems. This 2-year graduate program will support Project Leaders who aim to monitor, control, and challenge vehicle, parts, and manufacturing costs during development to achieve profit report timing before the start of production. After production, track cost performance, and support teams with estimations for optimization. Candidates will gain valuable knowledge of how Nissan functions and increase their awareness of the automotive industry.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities

The successful candidate to join our Cost Engineering (CE) Team will have the opportunity to cover both current production and future models. Examples of key responsibilities include:

  • Work with many business areas including Project Management, Design Engineers, Purchasing, and more.

  • Gather, process, and evaluate information to help estimate costs, movements in cost, and assist in target setting.

  • Support the wider GCD Team to improve costing processes and support departmental capability.

  • Provide ad hoc suport to design and cost challenge teams.

  • Review current workflows and positively impact working processes.

While you will be expected to have full responsibility for tasks given, there is also the support of everyone in the department.

Entry Requirements

  • You must hold or expect to achieve the following qualification(s): Undergraduate or Postgraduate Degree graded 2:1 or above in Engineering, Product Design, Industrialization, or a similar area.

  • Sufficient evidence of your right to work in the UK will be required. Your right to work in the UK or VISA must extend until September 2027 in order for you to qualify for this position.

Skills & Experience

The successful candidate should have the following skills or experience:

  • Competent with MS Office, or interested in becoming an Expert Excel user (familiar with VLOOKUP, SUMIF, Pivot tables).

  • A team player with a proactive attitude.

  • Logical thinker.

  • Strong numerical skills, with a passion for presenting findings in a transparent and concise manner.

  • Comfortable working within deadlines.

  • Proven ability to communicate effectively.

  • Fluent English, verbal and written communication skills.

  • Competitive base salary starting at £33,904

  • Remote Working Policy (maximum 2 days per week WFH)

    • Standard Working Hours: Mon-Thurs 8am-5pm, Fri 8am-1:20pm

    • 2+/- flexible hour adjustments (Subject to manager approval)
