Position Summary

 Forest Park Kidney Center is a 24 station in-center dialysis center with approximately 115 patients dialyzing at the center. We also provide Home Modality. The Outpatient Dialysis Center operates three patient shifts a day and is open Monday through Saturday 5:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Position hours are three days a week, rotating every other Saturday. Start time is 5:15a.m.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervises delivery of patient care by technician staff and performs initiation, monitoring, and termination of treatment as needed.
  • Completes patient assessment; observes, monitors, and responds appropriately to changes in patient condition; administers dialysis medications and receives report from staff members on patients under their care; completes all required documentation, including primary nurse responsibilities.
  • Reviews patient data and communicates accurate and pertinent information to the charge nurse or physician, charting entries appropriately.
  • Performs work according to nursing and facility standards inclusive of safety protocols, following state and facility guidelines.
  • Performs, verifies, and documents water system safely checks per unit policy; any findings outside the normal range must be reported to the Chief Maintenance Technician.
  • Responds to patient and staff concerns in a timely and appropriate manner; pertinent information is reported to charge nurse or nurse administrator, whiling maintaining confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines.
  • Educates new and existing patients and their families on the policies and procedures of the clinic, proper fluid control and treatment adherence.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Dialysis experience.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple patient issues at one time.
  • Independent decision making and the ability to solve problems.
  • Ability to work in a team setting.
  • Working knowledge of computers.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program with 1 year of nursing experience.
  • REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:  Current Illinois and/or Missouri RN licensure as applicable by state of work location, in accordance with Compact Act; Basic Life Support certification (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements).

Salary Range

$29.22 - $50.81 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
