Lunar Permanence: This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s multiple Blue Moon lander product lines. To further Blue Origin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building a sustainable infrastructure to transport crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. 

 

As a System Engineer on the Lunar Permanence Program Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) Requirements, Verification, and Certification (RVC) team you will be responsible for managing the execution of the Program design and construction standards as well as lead the production and closure of requirement variances. Your work will enable the development of the Human Landing System (HLS) crew lander and Human-class Delivery Lander (HDL) cargo lander. You will work directly with Blue Origin LP elements, our National Team Partners, and NASA. You will play a key role in developing the lunar transportation system that will return humans to the Moon and extend human presence permanently beyond the bounds of Earth.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Baseline implementation plans for technical standards with Blue Origin and NASA technical leads and manage the work with element SE&I leads through the verification process.

  • Establish the process for requirement variances (deviations, waivers, and exceptions) and manage the production, review, and closeout of all variances against Program and NASA requirements.

  • Track metrics that communicate progress in completing work on technical standards and variances.

  • Perform technical work and provide technical leadership of the highest caliber

  • Utilize good engineering and business judgement to ensure the most efficient and effective product is designed, manufactured, procured, tested, qualified, and delivered.

  • Work independently toward long-range objectives without appreciable direction and determine the technical objectives of assignments to develop approaches to solutions

  • Embody, promote, and coach the Blue Origin leadership principles

  • Provide leadership and guidance to the element teams

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering or another technical field

  • 8+ years of experience in the use of design and construction standards to produce complex systems

  • Experience with identifying and vetting requirement non-compliances and capturing rationale and mitigation plans for resolution.

  • Experience with NASA development program(s)

  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with the Blue Origin SLD Program, either MK1 or MK2

  • Experience working on a verification program for a complex spaceflight or aviation system

  • Experience with requirements and V&V tracking tools, preferably using JAMA

  • Experience operating on an Agile team

  • Experience with NASA design and certifications standards for human spaceflight

  • Experience with NASA certification of flight readiness process for a new system

  • Experience with NASA lunar, deep space, or planetary missions

  • Experience working on large complex programs with multiple partners


 

Compensation Range for:

CA applicants is $146,644.50-$205,302.30;CO applicants is $134,838.38-$188,773.73;WA applicants is $146,644.50-$205,302.30
