Required Qualifications:
- Medical degree
- Board certified in Family Medicine
- Unrestricted license or license eligible to practice medicine in Kansas
- DEA license
- Experience in family medicine education
- Experience conducting scholarly activity
- Ability to adapt to changing medical education and practice environments
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous participation in faculty development courses
- Previous leadership experience
- Family medicine practice experience
- Experience advising and counseling students and residents
- Experience using standardized patients and simulation as teaching and evaluation tools
- Procedural skills
Job Duties Outlined:
Education
- Assists the MS3 Family Medicine Clerkship Director
- Assists the MS4 Director for subinternships, electives and rural rotations in family medicine
- Contributes to the development and implementation of family medicine electives
- Assists in the implementation of MS1 and MS2 SER (Service, Enrichment and Remediation) weeks
- Teaches MS1 and MS2 medical students, including sports and musculoskeletal medicine
- Assists with activities that support department teaching functions including but not limited to standardized patient monitoring, academic detailing, teaching clinical skills, problem based and CBCL learning sessions, lectures, etc
- Provides residency lectures, small group session facilitation, skills-based teaching (e.g. ACLS, ALSO, etc.)
- Advise medical students on rotation scheduling and career specialty choice
Medical
- 2-5 half-days per week of patient care and/or residency teaching supervision
- Periodically supervise medical students at JayDoc Community Clinic
- Periodically assist medical student’s performance of pre-participation sports examinations and care of the homeless
- Provide supervision of residents in hospital and ambulatory settings
- Provide after-hours call for patients and collaborative oversight of mid-level practitioners in long-term care settings
Research/Scholarly Activity
- Participate with other faculty in development of scholarly activity and research
Service
- School, campus and department committees as assigned or elected
- Assist with department, campus and schoolwide service and support (e.g. student advising, Issues in Medicine, Introphase, medical student admissions interviews, etc.)
- Assist with administration of department activities (e.g. Family Medicine Interest Group, Rural Medicine Interest Group, JayDoc Community Clinic Board of Directors, etc.)
- Participate in faculty development activities including attendance and presentation at seminars
- Support department through grant development
