Job Summary

This position may be responsible for all aspects of program instruction, health screening and education including research and development of program materials, class preparation, teaching and set-up, curriculum development and counseling participants, follow-up with class participants, screening preparation and set-up, implementation, teaching, answering questions, collecting evaluations, completing appropriate paperwork, and follow-up with screening participants as appropriate. May also assist at health events and educate on a variety of health topics. This position requires the ability to understand and react effectively to the unique needs of the age of the patient population for whom services are provided.

Essential Functions

  • Assesses the educational needs of program participants which includes developing and implementing appropriate teaching strategies and/or making appropriate referrals, utilizing a variety of instructional methods to maintain interest and bring about changes in participant knowledge and behaviors based on evaluation.
  • Provides input into the review and development of educational materials, serving as a consultant and liaison for other health professionals related to area of specialty.
  • May facilitate community education programs.
  • Follows all procedures established for quality control, participant testing, and participant counseling, while performing screenings, independent of direct supervision in the field.
  • Assists at community events and educates on a variety of health issues at a variety of times, including evenings, weekends and early mornings.
  • Complies with all regulations/guidelines issued by governmental and regulatory agencies and established departmental and organizational policies and procedures which include but are not limited to: Organizational Manuals, Code of Conduct, performance improvement program, environmental and infection control standards.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops. Attends required in-services.
  • Maintains and supports a culture of safety by continuously learning safe practices, following all patient and environmental safety policies and procedures, and correcting and reporting unsafe conditions.

Qualifications

Required

  • Two years related experience in a health care setting, including education and program planning or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent in nursing, social work, exercise physiology, or related
