Position Summary...

What you'll do...

As a Senior Software Engineer you are responsible for developing high performance and scalable ETL platform and jobs that meet the needs of next generation Supply Chain, in particular for Walmart Fulfillment Services (exposing Walmart’s Supply chain assets to Sellers) that is built largely on an event driven platform implemented via a micro-service architecture. The platform runs in the public cloud and uses a large number of technologies and middle ware. This product is responsible for enabling sellers to use Walmart’s services to fulfill customer orders taken on behalf of seller on Walmart.com. We are looking to bring more intellectually curious engineers who are passionate about technology in general.

What you'll do:

  • Demonstrate up-to-date expertise in Software Engineering and apply this to the development, execution, and improvement of action plans.
  • Participate in medium- to large-scale projects.
  • Participate in team of application engineers, architect and product visionaries to design, prototype and build technology-driven products that will serve the current and future needs of ecommerce
  • Analyzes business problems to design solutions and/or implements and tests complex code changes for specific requirements or application/standalone program.
  • Primarily responsible for delivering high quality technical designs and code for the product requirements in a fast-paced agile scrum sprint.
  • Designing complex algorithms which are both CPU and memory efficient.
  • Implement ETL jobs as per the design, generate test cases, perform code reviews and write feature documentation.
  • Implement validations to ensure data is accurate and alert to get notified about any discrepancies.
  • Perform build, deployment and continuous integration processes to move the code and configurations from local development environments to QA & Production environments.
  • Drive production deployments using platform’s automated CI and deployment tools
  • Provide support as SME on the data that’s captured.
  • Responsible for production environment health as first priority, enabling automated monitoring and alerting and ensuring close to 100% uptime.
  • Support Business requests for investigation and analysis
  • Troubleshoot business and production issues
  • Help the team leverage and contribute to open-source technologies



What you'll bring:

Ideal Candidate Must-Haves (skills required)

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field and 5-7 years or Master's Degree in Computer Science or related field and 3-5 years of experience
  • Proven industry experience with large scale distributed systems
  • Solid experience with object-oriented and/or event driven systems
  • Strong programming experience in object-oriented programming e.g. Java, Scala
  • Strong experience building micro services using Java/Spring Boot
  • Experience with big data technologies (Hadoop, Hive, Spark)
  • Experience analyzing the data sets and optimizing resource consumption for ETLs.
  • Working experience with Kubernetes
  • In depth knowledge of SQL/No-SQL and database technologies (Oracle, Cosmos DB, ElasticSearch, Casandra and Solr.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Scripting skills in at least one of the following: Shell, Perl, Python.
  • Working experience with cloud technologies like Azure, GCP.
  • Strong aptitude for writing efficient code
  • Excellent data analytics skills and ability to explore and identify data issues
  • Attitude to thrive in a fun, fast-paced start-up like environment
  • Experience in production system operations (logging, telemetry, alerting etc.)
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Has ambition and vigor to add value to a rapidly growing development team
