The Opportunity
The Patient Safety Lead role is a senior leadership position focused on ensuring patient safety within Roche's affiliate(s)/country(ies). This role involves overseeing the local pharmacovigilance system, ensuring compliance with both global and local standards, addressing gaps, and driving process improvements. The position offers the opportunity to shape and implement the local Patient Safety strategy while collaborating with global and local stakeholders to advance Roche’s Pharma Vision. It requires strategic thinking, strong leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to empowering teams and fostering a culture of trust and excellence. The role is dedicated to ensuring a safe experience for patients and delivering impactful results through transformative leadership.
Responsibilities:
Maintain oversight of the local pharmacovigilance (PV) system, ensuring compliance with regulations, inspection readiness, and serving as the safety point of contact, including as QPPV where applicable.
Partner with Pharmacovigilance Hubs to efficiently execute PV operations such as case management, signal detection, risk management, safety reporting, and PV agreements.
Lead the local Patient Safety strategy in alignment with affiliate priorities and customer-centric goals, ensuring preparedness for launches, precision medicine, and strategic activities.
Collaborate with external stakeholders, including industry associations and patient groups, to shape the regulatory and healthcare environment and enhance patient safety.
Act as a trusted safety expert for affiliate and global functions, delivering insights and solutions for treatment safety, regulatory submissions, and risk management.
Engage with the Safety Network (NET) to contribute expertise, resources, and initiatives toward achieving global and local safety goals.
Support and develop the local Patient Safety team, fostering operational excellence, safety science application, and improved patient care outcomes.
Who you are:
Degree in Medicine or Healthcare Practitioner required
An experienced people leader with 10+ years of experience in pharmacovigilance (PV) within an affiliate setting, and knowledge of global/local PV ecosystems.
Proven ability to design, implement, and maintain streamlined PV processes and oversight systems that ensure compliance and effectiveness.
Strategic mindset with strong critical thinking, systems thinking, and outcome-based planning skills.
Ability to effectively navigate cross-functional collaboration, influence stakeholders, and develop internal and external partnerships within the pharma and healthcare ecosystem.
Preferred:
Experience in medical functions such as Medical Affairs or Clinical Operations, or in global roles like product development or clinical safety.
Strong understanding of new therapeutic areas, digital health, and data-driven insights to advance safety initiatives.
Visionary leadership capabilities, including coaching, catalyzing cultural shifts in PV, and inspiring safety-focused strategies.
Digital fluency, including using digital tools and leveraging network expertise to fulfill local PV and patient safety needs.
Ability to simplify and adapt complex safety knowledge for local contexts while promoting a customer- and patient-centric mindset.
