About the Job:

Red Hat Ansible Engineering team is looking for a Software Engineer who is passionate for open source software, automation and the impact that our products have on our customers. In this role you work on the Red Hat Ansible DevTools Team which is one of the key areas within the Engineering organization, which reaches across Red Hat’s diverse solution portfolio.

You will be responsible for designing and developing the developer tools-projects to make it easier to write and test Ansible Content. With your technical expertise, you will manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. You will design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions. You’ll work in a fast-paced environment using GitHub and peer review workflows. Solid fundamentals in computer science will be more than beneficial to the team.

What will you do?

  • Create new features/projects for tooling; contribute these features to upstream projects

  • Submit patches for bug fixes to the community; review patches from other community members

  • Educate the team on new features by pull request reviews or small team presentations

  • Write unit tests, integration tests. Work on the Quality testing to ensure projects are tested correctly

  • Work with the Ansible Content team closely to ensure the requirements are met

  • Work with the Productization team for releases

  • Publicize the work the team is doing via blogs, web postings, or conference talks

What you will bring?

  • 2–4 years of experience with software development in Python/ JavaScript/ ReactJS/ Typescript

  • Experience with VS Code extension is a plus

  • Experience with Container technology is a plus

  • Experience with GitHub, GitLab, or other collaborative code forges.

  • Experience with GitHub Action or any other CI/CD

  • Passion for open source technologies; previous experience with open source communities and development is a plus

The following are considered a plus:

  • Solid object-oriented software development skills

  • Experience with unit tests, integration testing

  • Experience with automated testing tools

  • Ability to learn container technologies and Kubernetes

  • Practical experience using the Linux operating system, including Bash scripting

  • Familiarity with various deployment models, including cloud, virtualization, and containers

  • Should be able to collaborate with the cross-functional teams
