Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services serving the US government, allies, and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking a Facility Lead, Mechanical & Plumbing to support a unique US Navy program based on the island of Diego Garcia. The Facility Lead, Mechanical & Plumbing will oversee the maintenance and repair of mechanical and plumbing systems, ensuring their continual performance and operational integrity in accordance with contract specifications and applicable standards.
Job Responsibilities:
- Supervise the maintenance, repair, and operational performance of all mechanical and plumbing systems, facilities, and equipment as outlined in the technical sub-annex.
- Ensure all facilities, systems, and equipment are maintained to a standard that prevents deterioration beyond normal wear and tear and that deficiencies are corrected in a timely manner to maximize life expectancy.
- Manage the preventative maintenance programs for mechanical and plumbing facilities and systems, focusing on HVAC units, water supply systems, drainage, septic systems, boilers, pumps, and related infrastructure.
- Perform system inspections and ensure timely corrective actions to address deficiencies and maintain optimal operational performance.
- Develop and maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Lead a team of mechanical and plumbing technicians, providing mentorship and ensuring effective workflow, timely completion of maintenance tasks, and compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Collaborate and coordinate with other facility departments, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure smooth operation and communication between maintenance activities and facility operations.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics related to mechanical and plumbing systems.
- Provide input for future improvements, recommendations for system upgrades, and initiatives to enhance the quality, efficiency, and life expectancy of mechanical and plumbing systems.
- Adhere to all safety, regulatory, and compliance requirements, ensuring that all work is performed safely and in line with established policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Respond to mechanical and plumbing emergencies, ensuring systems are promptly returned to operational status with minimal impact on service delivery.
- Identify and manage procurement needs for spare parts and tools necessary to support mechanical and plumbing maintenance operations.
Minimum Requirements:
- 5-7 years of experience in mechanical or plumbing systems operation, maintenance, and repair in either industrial or commercial facilities, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
- High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary technical education or certifications in mechanical or plumbing systems are highly desired.
- Strong technical expertise in mechanical systems such as HVAC, boilers, water treatment systems, and plumbing infrastructure.
- Proven ability to conduct inspections, assess system performance, and identify corrective measures.
- Familiarity with building maintenance and repairs for mechanical and plumbing facilities, including industry-standard work practices.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics for system maintenance tasks.
- Ability to effectively prioritize, plan, and oversee large-scale maintenance operations, ensuring timely completion within the performance standards.
- A strong understanding of safety standards, industry regulations, and codes applicable to mechanical and plumbing systems.
- Experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to record and manage maintenance work orders.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to provide guidance, training, and direction to team members and collaborate with other departments.
- Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
- Passport should be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
- Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for the duration of deployment.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce is preferred.
- Valid country driver’s license and passport.
- Country visa (as required in line with the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide).
- Licensed plumber or certification as an HVAC or mechanical systems technician is highly desirable.
- Experience working in the maintenance and operation of government or military facilities, including compliance with DoD or NAVFAC facility standards.
- Familiarity with water supply, drainage, septic systems, and associated operational equipment.
- Training or certification in workplace safety (such as OSHA or equivalent).
- Proven experience implementing energy efficiency, water consumption reduction, or sustainability initiatives in facility systems.
