Job Description

What is the opportunity?

The Market & Counterparty Credit Risk (MCCR) group is responsible for defining and implementing an effective risk framework and governance structure for RBC & its subsidiaries and the combined U.S. operations of RBC. RBC is seeking a strong candidate to join its MCCR team, specifically for Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review (CCAR) Market Shock and other regulatory compliance. In particular, the incumbent’s core responsibilities are to contribute to the governance and successful execution of the CCAR Global Market Shock (GMS) / Internal Market Shock (IMS) components (Counterparty Default Loss, CVA, Trading MtM and IDR).

What will you do?

  • Lead the end-to-end GMS stress testing program for the US IHC, including scenario application, results production, validation, and regulatory submission to the Federal Reserve

  • Manage and develop a team of Market Risk professionals, directing day-to-day priorities and workstreams to drive the GMS build program forward and ensure ongoing BAU maintenance of the stress testing framework

  • As part of the GMS build mandate, contribute strategic thinking on infrastructure enhancements to the IHC's stress testing environment, including data pipelines, calculation processes, and tooling, to support a scalable and well-controlled framework

  • Partner with IT and Quantitative Risk to define business requirements, conduct UAT, and validate system changes impacting GMS stress testing calculations and reporting

  • Establish and maintain governance frameworks, process controls, and documentation (methodology papers, system lineage, process flows) required for regulatory compliance and internal audit readiness

  • Prepare and present materials for FRB engagements, senior management, and internal risk committees; coordinate cross-functional stakeholders to resolve issues and advance program objectives

  • Monitor regulatory developments and supervisory guidance relevant to CCAR/GMS; support risk and control self-assessments, internal audits, and regulatory examinations

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Engineering, Mathematics, or a quantitative field; advanced degree (MBA, MSc, PhD) preferred

  • 8+ years of experience at an investment bank in CCAR stress testing, Market Risk Capital, or a related regulatory capital function

  • Deep knowledge of GMS and IMS stress testing methodologies, including scenario construction, loss aggregation, and FRB submission requirements

  • Strong understanding of financial products across rates, credit, equity, and their valuation under stress

  • Experience leading or materially contributing to technology and infrastructure build-outs in a market risk or regulatory capital context

  • Proficiency in Python and SQL for data analysis, process automation, and results validation; familiarity with BI tools (Tableau, OBI) and market risk platforms

  • Demonstrated people management experience, with the ability to set priorities, develop junior staff, and maintain high-quality output under regulatory deadlines

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing materials for senior management, risk committees, and regulators

  • Ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into actionable technical specifications and governance frameworks

  • Autonomous and highly motivated; able to manage competing priorities and drive programs forward in a dynamic environment

We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper. We care about each other, reaching our potential, making a difference to our communities, and achieving success that is mutual.
