The Legal Contracts Manager will work in close collaboration with the commercial transactions legal team (U.S. based lawyers) to support the delivery of legal services to internal clients in the United States and Canada.

 

The CLM Contract Manager must be forward-looking with a “can do” orientation and willing to develop a deep understanding of the businesses they support. They must demonstrate innovative thinking, work independently and proactively, and function as a trusted advisor to the attorneys and business team members they support.

 

Primary Duties:

  • Assist and support the review, drafting and negotiation of agreements, including sales, service, framework agreements, and construction contracts in accordance with the Johnson Controls’ policies.

  • Partner with a variety of stakeholders to ensure that the language reflects Johnson Controls’ internal policies in the Agreements.

  • Manage and utilize contract management systems.

  • Work simultaneously on numerous agreements and customers.

  • Ensure clear and direct communication when corresponding (verbally or written) with the business team and customer on the status of the agreement.

  • Collaborate with client legal team to resolve issues and develop efficient and effective negotiation strategies.

  • Advise the business to make well informed decisions related to the agreements.

  • Perform research and analysis for decision-making and present synopsis.

  • Assist in the implementation and communication of Johnson Controls’ policies, processes and procedures for any agreement.

Candidates for the HVAC Contract Specialist role must possess the following:

  • Excellent command of the English language (written and verbal).  Must have knowledge of legal terminology in English.  

  • Law degree and minimum of 5 years of commercial transactions experience which includes meaningful periods of time supporting multinational organizations in the review and negotiation of English language contracts, whether as part of a law firm or corporate law department.

  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), presentation and organization skills.

  • Process-driven, detail oriented, self-motivated, and analytical.

  • Experience partnering with the business and to collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet specific needs of the business.

  • Ability to work equally well independently or in a cross-functional team environment.

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite products, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
