Job Title: Engineering Manager

Location: Bengaluru, Manyata Tech Park

Business & Team: Business Banking, CommSec

CommSec is Australia's largest online retail stockbroker. It is one of the most highly-visible and visited online assets in Australian financial services. CommSec’s systems utilise a variety of technologies and support a broad range of investors. Software engineers within CommSec are offered regular opportunities to work on some of the finest IT systems in Australia, as well as having opportunity to develop careers across different functions and teams within the wider Bank.

Impact & contribution: The CBA technology unit delivers the best digital banking services to Commonwealth Bank customers and to do so is responsible for digital delivery, group data and analytics, technology and technology infrastructure, cyber, fraud, physical security and business resilience for all divisions across CBA. It is also dedicated to delivering the best workplace technology experience for our over 53.000 people across CBA and focused on providing the latest tools, technology, and resources to enhance the way we work together and empower our people to achieve more for our customers.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Independently oversee multiple projects ensuring that all functional and non-functional requirements are met.
  • Utilise strong understanding of core business and technical strategies to deliver best business outcomes.
  • Develop and deploy high quality software solutions.
  • Collaborate with other teams across the enterprise to ensure the successful delivery of solutions.
  • Provide mentoring and technical assistance to other members of the team.
  • Drive strategic practice development and provides technical assistance to the team.
  • Provide high level estimates for large projects.
  • Active contribution to internal online discussion around software engineering, delivery and technology e.g. blog posts, knowledge base articles etc. 

Essential Skills:

Minimum 14+ years of experience with expert level knowledge, working with the following languages

  • .NET Technologies
  • Front End Web Development (ReactJS/Angular preferred – only for Full stack)
  • Cloud Technology: AWS

Experience working with the following Tools:

  • IDEs (Visual Studio Code & IntelliJ)
  • Streaming tool such as RabbitMQ or Kafka
  • Source Control systems such as Git
  • Build & Deployment tools such as TeamCity, Octopus Deploy
  • Monitoring tools such as Splunk/Observe, AppDynamics, Snyk

Awareness of the following Software Development/Testing Concepts:

  • REST and API Development
  • CI/CD and DevOps
  • TDD and BDD
  • Micro-services Architecture
  • Secure Coding Practices
  • Test Automation (Unit/System/System Integration)

Education Qualification: Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Engineering in Computer Science/Information Technology
