About the role

At bp, we're using data, analytics, and AI to improve how we work, make decisions, and create value for our customers and business.

As a Principal Data Manager, you'll help shape how data is managed and used across Mobility & Convenience. Working with business leaders, engineers, architects, analysts, and data scientists, you'll help build trusted, scalable, and accessible data foundations that support both day-to-day operations and long-term growth.

You'll play a key role in connecting business needs with data solutions, improving data quality, enabling automation, and helping teams get more value from data.

What you'll do

  • Partner with business and technology teams to understand priorities and deliver data solutions that support business outcomes.
  • Improve data quality, governance, and accessibility across multiple business areas.
  • Help design and maintain scalable data models, products, and data management practices.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify processes and automate manual activities.
  • Provide guidance to teams working across data, analytics, and engineering.
  • Support the development of data capabilities, standards, and ways of working.
  • Contribute to the adoption of data and AI across the organisation.
  • Develop and support data professionals, encouraging collaboration, learning, and growth.

What we're looking for

You bring extensive experience in data management, governance, analytics, engineering, or data platform leadership within large and complex organisations.

We're particularly interested in candidates who have:

  • Experience leading enterprise-scale data management or governance initiatives.
  • Experience building and developing data-focused teams.
  • Strong understanding of data lifecycle management, data quality, and modern data platforms.
  • Experience working with Azure, AWS, or similar cloud technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with data modelling, transformation, automation, and SQL.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across business and technology teams.
  • A practical approach to solving problems and delivering value through data.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Significant experience in data management, analytics, engineering, or governance.
  • Experience leading large teams and working across global environments.

Why join us?

We're building the data foundations that will help shape the future of Mobility & Convenience. You'll have the opportunity to work on meaningful challenges, influence how data is used across the business, and help accelerate the adoption of analytics and AI.

If you enjoy solving complex problems, developing people, and turning data into business value, we'd love to hear from you.
