Position Summary

The Athletic Trainer in a physician’s practice is responsible for clinical support of an orthopedic or sports medicine physician. The AT will work under the direction and collaboration of supervising physician, providing patient care through the entire patient visit to encompass all MHS rooming standards, procedure assistance and other duties as determined by physician and/or APP in accordance with their scope of practice. Assists in supporting the orthopedic and sports medicine program through outreach events. Interacts with multiple departments for care coordination and patient care.

Responsibilities:

  • Works with Sports Medicine/Orthopedic providers in the clinical setting to provide patient care and facilitate optimal outcomes for patients.
  • Performs, documents, and orders appropriate physical exam and testing as indicated based on clinical presentation.
  • Provides patient education and instruction including but not limited to triage of patient messages, HEP, pre and post operative instructions, test results, and return to play to facilitate injury care, management, and rehabilitation with appropriate stakeholders in patient care spectrum.
  • Provides independent or collaborative team medical coverage and athletic training services to certain community events as directed by supervising physician.
  • Additional duties as assigned and defined in the Scope of Practice document.

Requirements:

  • National certification by, and in good standing with, the Board of Certification (bocatc.org)
  • WA State Athletic Trainer licensure
  • Current CPR certification for medical professional
  • NPI number preferred
  • Post-professional residencies in Sports Medicine/Orthopedics or previous clinical experience preferred.
  • If required to assist in the operating room, WA State registration as Surgical Technologist (RST) or equivalent (such as SA-C).

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $26.30 - $37.84 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant’s years of experience align.
