Senior Director, Insurance Business Development – SLC Management

What is in it for you:
The Senior Director, Insurance Business Development will be an integral part of the SLC insurance business development team. The role will be responsible for representing SLC’s investment strategies in a defined segment of the insurance channel. The candidate should have extensive experience working with insurance companies in the U.S.  The candidate should have strong public fixed market knowledge and an ability to engage with insurance executives about topics related to insurance operations, regulatory constraints, and other non-investment areas. Experience with alternative investment strategies is a plus. The ideal candidate will have a strategic mindset and deliberate, action-oriented approach.   

What you will do:

  • Responsible for new business generation and building the reputation of SLC within a defined sales territory covering insurance companies across the U.S. with a focus on public fixed income.
  • Develop a strategic sales plan for the coverage universe and create and maintain a strong sales pipeline by building and nurturing relationships.
  • Collaborate with the Client Relationships team to develop cross-selling opportunities with existing clients.
  • Work closely with the Insurance Client Solutions Team to develop bespoke client solutions, multi-asset strategies and thought leadership content.

What you need to succeed:

  • Minimum 5-7 years of relevant experience in an insurance business development role with demonstrated success.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented atmosphere.
  • Strong executive presence and ability to formulate and execute against a business plan.
  • Extensive knowledge of institutional insurance portfolios, strong asset class knowledge and an in depth understanding of the competitive landscape and industry trends.
  • Insight into insurance regulatory developments.
  • Exceptional communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation) with the ability to explain complex ideas in a simple way.
  • Excellent emotional intelligence to nurture and grow relationships and collaborate with various stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to think and perform strategically, bringing innovative solutions to complex prospect situations.
  • Entrepreneurial, self-starter.
  • A winning attitude and highly charged, positive disposition.
  • A willingness and ability to travel regularly.
  • CFA designation preferred.
  • FINRA Series 7 & 63 & 3 preferred or willingness to pass the exams upon hire.
