What you will do
Be a strong, active advocate for technical standards, engineering best practices, and quality across PayPal, Inc.
Contributes to engineering efforts on large project features, modules and/or services.
Support end-to-end ownership of design, implementation and operational excellence of software components.
Influence and drive timely, accurate and complete projects through engagement and participation at the team-level.
Be a teammate who looks ahead and anticipates consequences of implementation choices on future development.
Applies knowledge of best practices in technical decision making and provides guidance to junior engineers
Serves as an expert to resolve technical inquiries of others.
Competent in diagnosing software bugs, failures, and performance issues.
Job Requirements
3+ years of experience in Java, Python or equivalent high-level programming language.
Experience with RDBMS and NoSQL data stores, caching solutions (e.g. Redis,ElastiCache, Hazelcast) and messaging/queuing protocols/systems such as SQS/Kafka/RabbitMQ/Pulsar.
Experience with building services on public cloud via Kubernetes – AWS, GCP, Azure
You have experience maintaining end-to-end availability and performance of critical services.
Ability to understand and discuss complex topics with technical and non-technical audiences.
Strong understanding of testing best practices and familiarity with at least one testing framework. Skilled at writing Unit and Automation tests.
Strong knowledge of common design patterns, algorithms, and object-oriented programming with expertise in design patterns such as MVC and MVVM.
