Job Summary
We are hiring a Sr Product Development Engineer I to support AI Performance & Operational Intelligence within Foundations Engineering – AI Production Engineering.
In this role, you will build telemetry pipelines, cost analytics dashboards, and operational tooling that provides visibility into AI workload performance and efficiency. You will work closely with the Lead Engineer to instrument AI services and optimize runtime behavior.
This role is hands-on and execution-focused, supporting performance profiling, cost tracking and operational diagnostics for AI-dependent systems.

Responsibilities: 
Telemetry & Analytics Implementation
• Implement metrics pipelines for token usage, latency, throughput, and error rates.
• Build dashboards and reporting systems for AI workload analytics.
• Assist in performance profiling and runtime optimization efforts.

Operational Support & Automation
• Support anomaly detection and degradation alerting systems.
• Contribute to automated log summarization and diagnostics workflows.
• Assist in investigating performance regressions and cost spikes.

Engineering Collaboration
• Partner with Runtime & Reliability engineers to align performance monitoring with SLOs.
• Collaborate with Evaluation teams to correlate performance and quality signals.
• Participate in performance review and capacity modeling initiatives.

Basic Qualifications:
• 5+ years of backend engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python.
• Experience building APIs and distributed backend systems.
• Experience working with observability tools (metrics, logging, tracing).
• Experience operating services in cloud environments.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Exposure to AI-powered systems or model-dependent workloads.
• Experience building analytics dashboards or telemetry pipelines.
• Familiarity with performance profiling tools.\
• Exposure to cost monitoring or usage analytics systems.

Experience with:
• Backend APIs and distributed microservices.
• Observability tooling and metrics systems.
• Performance profiling and debugging tools.
• Log aggregation and operational dashboards.
• Cloud-based deployments and monitoring systems.
• External API integrations and rate-limited services.

Required Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field (Master’s 
preferred), or equivalent experience
