We are searching for the best talent to join our MedTech Robotic Instruments & Accessories team as an Associate Design Engineer, MedTech located in Cincinnati, OH & work a Flex/Hybrid schedule with 3 days per week on-site.

In this role, you will design and develop sophisticated robotic advanced energy instruments that provide robust clinical value. You will be a vital member of product development teams, conducting various assignments in collaboration with other design engineers, manufacturing engineers, designers, and multi-functional partners.

You will be responsible for:

  • Design and iterate technical concepts quickly and effectively via prototype builds, laboratory testing, and/or computer simulations
  • Support development of design requirements and their translation into design concepts and solutions, based on user needs and product function
  • Develop test methods, test scripts/programs, & design/build fixtures and systems for testing
  • Generate/process/analyze advanced engineering data using new techniques such as AI/machine learning to meet design requirements and develop new robotic advanced energy delivery and control algorithms
  • Commercialize new products via the design control process, applying good documentation practices, spanning from feasibility to V&V through launch
  • Participate in detailed reviews of designs, test methods, requirements, spec’s, etc.
  • Effectively communicate technical information in written & verbal forms

 Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Robotics Engineering, or related science/engineering field is required
  • One year minimum of product development/ design experience is required
  • Basic mechanical design and analysis skills, including an understanding of mechanism design and machine elements is required
  • Experience developing and using 3D CAD models (SolidWorks preferred), free-body diagrams and strength of materials is required
  • Able to apply basic tolerance analysis, stress-strain analysis, FEA, simulated use testing, and basic statistical analysis is required
  • Able to assist with engineering investigations, problem solving, root cause analysis, prototype rework, component modification, and data analysis experience
  • Experience in programming and coding in Python, Matlab, or similar programming languages is required
  • Effective communication, collaboration, and teaming skills with ability to present technical information to engineering team.
  • Able to maintain regulatory adherence while conforming to industry regulations
  • Up to 10% domestic and international travel may be required, including overnight stays
  • Able to provide positive and constructive feedback to teammates on product concepts and designs
  • Organized with creative, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work independently under general supervision
  • Able to set and prioritize goals with general guidance from management
  • Experience working on a project team with demonstration of encouraging and inclusive behaviors
  • Experience using or developing with databases, cloud platforms, machine learning/AI, algorithms, and code management tools is preferred
  • Knowledge of component manufacturing processes (injection molding, machining, stamping, etc.), DFM/A, and Design to Cost is preferred
  • Working knowledge of design controls, design plans, and verification/validation, preferably as they apply within a regulated industry is preferred
  • Systems-based design experience, including integration of cross-disciplinary technologies (e.g., mechanical, electrical, controls, software) is preferred
  • Experience in the design, development, and commercialization of medical devices with an understanding of their application in surgical procedures is preferred
  • Data analysis experience with Python, Matlab, or similar programming languages is preferred

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :

$76,000.00 - $121,900.00

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:

Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).
Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire, employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:

Vacation –120 hours per calendar year

Sick time - 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Colorado –48 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington –56 hours per calendar year

Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays –13 days per calendar year

Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year

Parental Leave – 480 hours within one year of the birth/adoption/foster care of a child

Bereavement Leave – 240 hours for an immediate family member: 40 hours for an extended family member per calendar year

Caregiver Leave – 80 hours in a 52-week rolling period10 days

Volunteer Leave – 32 hours per calendar year

Military Spouse Time-Off – 80 hours per calendar year
