HR Administrator (Apprentice position)

Location: Aviation Park West, Bournemouth Airport

The Curtiss-Wright HR team in the UK operate as a Shared Service across 3 Divisions, supporting around 500 employees. We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised person who is seeking a rewarding career in Human Resources.  The successful candidate will join the HR team in our purpose-built facility next to Bournemouth Airport.  Curtiss-Wright is a long-established Company who were at the forefront of aviation.  The Company is now diversified into many sectors and acquired Penny & Giles who were locally based, in 2002.

We are looking for a candidate who has recently finished their GCSE’s or A levels/BTEC and is keen to develop a career in HR.  We will support the successful candidate with an apprenticeship level 3 qualification through Bournemouth & Poole College. The training will allow them to gain accreditation and eventually professional membership of the CIPD.  There is scope to progress to level 5.  As skills and experience increase there will be opportunity to get involved with more complex HR activities and projects.

The team are also involved in work relating to other Curtiss-Wright facilities across Europe and Asia, and there may be opportunities to get involved in some HR aspects of this.

Major Accountabilities/Deliverables

  • Provide support to the HR team

  • Responder on HR Helpdesk

  • Updating Workday

  • Manage employee changes in conjunction with the US-based HRIS Team

  • Support new hire, onboarding & leaver processes

  • Support Careers fairs and open days

  • Support new employee screening (e.g. ITAR, BPSS and SC)

  • HR reporting metrics

  • Maintain HR processes & procedures

  • Ad hoc HR projects

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade 5 or above (must including Maths and English Language)

  • If you are an A level or equivalent student ideally Business, Economics, Psychology or law.

Skills

  • Strong IT skills especially MS Office Word and Excel.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Excellent customer service and people skills.

  • Time management skills and ability to work under pressure.

  • Communication & organisation skills

Experience

  • Computer literate and competent user of Microsoft Packages (including Excel, Word & PowerPoint)

  • Experience of working in a people facing/customer service role (desirable)

  • Some knowledge of HR (desirable but not essential)

Role Needs

  • There may be occasional travel (mainly to other CW UK sites)
