About the Role

The Investment Consulting Unit is a group of investment professionals with a mix of backgrounds and specialties. Team members have experience in actuarial, fund management, quantitative analysis, systems development, and consulting. The team objective is to improve investment outcomes by driving and managing continuous improvement to investment strategy processes and infrastructure, guiding changes to strategic asset allocations and to asset class strategies, shaping the role of the BU CIOs, coordinating between Group functions, acting as a central resource for AIA business unit CIOs, CFOs, and CROs, and Building and maintaining analytics systems.
The objective of this role is to support the delivery of a subset of the team objectives outlined above.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Perform independent research and contribute insights to ICU projects
  • Undertake analysis related to asset allocation, asset class strategy, and other investment-related topics using Excel, Python, or R as required
  • Develop tools to automate regularly used analysis as needed
  • Draft slides to communicate project methodology, analysis, results, and implications in PowerPoint
  • Support ICU colleagues in the execution of their initiatives
  • Develop relationships with Group Investment and local Investment, Actuarial and Risk team peers
  • Represent Group Investment in the regular SAA review cycle for certain designated AIA entities
  • Develop and use a network of contacts with external asset managers, consultants, and investment banks
  • Act as main point of contact for certain designated AIA entity CIOs. Understand any issues, queries and challenges, and work with ICU colleagues to respond
  • Perform other responsibilities and duties periodically assigned by supervisor to meet operational and/or other requirements

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • 4-5 years experience in insurance, asset management or similar financial services sector
  • Associate of Society of Actuaries, Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, Chartered Financial Analyst or similar professional qualification
  • Strong capability in building and running quantitative models for investment analysis
  • Solid understanding of the Life Insurance sector, in particular ALM modeling, Solvency II equivalent risk-based capital models and Monte Carlo engines
  • Knowledge of standard analytical tools including Excel, Python, R, etc.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, curious learner and team player, excellent communication and interpersonal skills
