The Associate Programmer will support the Joint Advertising, Market Research & Studies (JAMRS) contract by developing, testing, and maintaining software applications that enhance military recruitment strategies. Provides specialized expertise across several systems hardware, networking and/or software functions.  Performs programming and technical support of systems and leads the planning and conversions for new hardware and software products. Responsible for customization, installation, maintenance, setting of standards, and optimizing performance for systems in areas of expertise. Involves collaborating with a team of engineers, data scientists, and researchers to create tools and systems that analyze data, optimize marketing campaigns, and improve the overall efficiency of JAMRS initiatives. Works on a variety of projects, contributing to the technical backbone of JAMRS operations.

Location: Remote and JAMRS Headquarters located in the Mark Center in Alexandria, VA

This position is contingent upon contract award. 

Key Responsibilities:

Software Development:

  • Write, test, and maintain code for software applications and tools that support JAMRS research and marketing efforts.
  • Collaborate with senior programmers and technical leads to develop software solutions that meet project requirements and timelines.
  • Participate in code reviews and testing processes to ensure software quality and performance.

Data Management and Integration:

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of databases and data pipelines that support research and analytics.
  • Work with data scientists and researchers to integrate data sources into JAMRS software systems.
  • Ensure data is accurately processed, stored, and accessible for analysis and reporting.

Technical Support:

  • Provide technical support to project teams, troubleshooting and resolving software-related issues as they arise.
  • Assist in the deployment and maintenance of software applications in both development and production environments.
  • Document software development processes and maintain technical documentation for future reference.

Collaboration and Teamwork:

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, researchers, and marketing professionals, to understand project needs and deliver technical solutions.
  • Contribute to team meetings, providing updates on project progress and sharing technical insights.
  • Participate in collaborative problem-solving sessions to address technical challenges.

Continuous Learning and Development:

  • Stay up-to-date with industry best practices, emerging technologies, and programming languages relevant to the role.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities to enhance technical skills and knowledge.
  • Apply new skills and knowledge to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of JAMRS software solutions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field and certifications in areas of expertise.
  • Experience: 3years of systems and programming expertise preferably in a research, marketing, or data-driven environment.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, C++, or similar.
    • Familiarity with database management systems (e.g., SQL, NoSQL) and data processing techniques.
    • Experience with software development tools and environments (e.g., Git, IDEs, CI/CD pipelines).
    • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Security Clearance: Must possess or be able to obtain a DoD Common Access Card (CAC) and successfully complete a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) fingerprint check and a National Agency Check with Written Inquiries (NACI) check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with or within the Department of Defense (DoD).
  • Knowledge of data analytics tools and frameworks.
  • Familiarity with JAMRS and its mission and objectives.
  • Experience with web development, cloud computing, or machine learning is a plus.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $65,000.00 - $117,500.00
