The Leidos Digital Modernization Sector is seeking a Windows Print Queue Administrator   in support of the Air Force National Capital (AFNCR) IT Services program.

This position is located at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland.

Leidos has an exciting opportunity for an expert-level Windows Print Queue Administrator experience who would like to expand their knowledge, grow with the Leidos team on the Air Force National Capital Region (AFNCR) IT Services (ITS) program, and find interesting solutions to challenging issues.  We are seeking a detail-oriented and proficient Windows Print Queue Administrator to manage and maintain our enterprise printing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and security of all print servers, print queues, and related services. This role involves proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving of all printing issues to minimize downtime and support business operations. You will serve as the secondary point of contact for all print-related incidents and service requests.

This position is 100% onsite at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland.

Active Secret clearance required to start.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and manage all print jobs across multiple Windows Print Servers. Manually clear print queues of stuck or corrupted jobs by stopping and starting the Print Spooler service and clearing the spool folder
  • Act as the primary escalation point for all printing-related issues, including jobs that fail to print, printouts that are garbled, or queues that become unresponsive.
  • Diagnose issues related to printer drivers, network connectivity, and application-specific printing problems.
  • Install, update, and manage printer drivers on print servers, ensuring compatibility and stability.
  • Configure and deploy new printers and print queues, including setting up network ports and sharing permissions.
  • Perform routine maintenance on Windows Print Servers to ensure optimal performance and high availability.
  • Implement and manage security policies related to printing, such as restricting driver installation to administrators (Point and Print Restrictions) to prevent vulnerabilities.
  • Manage user permissions for print queues and configure printing defaults and preferences for different user groups or devices.
  • Manage DHCP Printer reservations (Create and delete reservations)
  • Utilize Xerox Device Manager (XDM) to manage printers (Certificates updates, Firmware updates, deploy configuration)

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical discipline or 3+ years relevant experience in Service Operations.
  • 2-3+ years of hands-on experience as a Systems Administrator or Desktop Support Specialist with a strong focus on managing a Windows-based printing environment.
  • Requires a current 8140 IAT Level II (Intermediate or Advanced) certificate (CompTIA Security+ or Training DISA (451) Training (Windows) DCWF Windows Systems Administrator
  • Strong proficiency in managing Windows Server (2019, 2022)
  • Strong knowledge of the Windows Print Spooler service, including how to stop, start, and restart it via the Services console and command line
  •  Proven ability to troubleshoot common printing problems, such as stuck print jobs, driver conflicts, and network printing errors.
  • Comfortable using Command Prompt with administrator privileges to manage services and delete spooled files.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with a methodical approach to issue resolution.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively support end-users and collaborate with other IT teams.
  • Knowledge of DHCP scope management
  • Knowledge of DoD network and application security hardening requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with the Print Management Console (PMC) for centralized administration of printers and drivers.
  • Basic scripting knowledge (PowerShell or Batch) for automating routine print management tasks.
  • Understanding of network printing protocols such as LPD, IPP, and Raw (Socket).
  • Experience working in air-gapped and/or classified network environments (e.g., SIPRNet) is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of Air Force, Pentagon, and/or AFNCR
  • Experienced working at the Pentagon, Joint Base Andrews (JBA), and Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling (JBAB)

Pay Range:

Pay Range $52,000.00 - $94,000.00
