Texas A&M’s Department of Chemistry is seeking a Research Program Aide to support research at the intersection of computational chemistry, machine learning, and high-throughput materials discovery. This role will involve assisting with data curation, automating computational workflows, and analyzing results to support the design and screening of organic functional materials. Projects may include neural network training, structure–property prediction, and the development of inverse design strategies. This position is well suited for individuals with interests in physical chemistry, cheminformatics, machine learning, and scientific computing.

Opportunities to Contribute

  • Collect, organize, and maintain datasets relevant to computational chemistry and materials science research.

  • Develop and implement automated workflows for computational experiments and simulations.

  • Analyze computational results to identify trends and insights for the design and screening of organic functional materials.

  • Assist in training neural networks for structure property prediction and inverse design strategies.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.

A well-qualified candidate for this position will also possess:

  • Experience with Python programming.

  • Basic knowledge of chemistry or materials science.

  • Familiarity with machine learning techniques and tools.

  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency in Python programming.

  • Knowledge of computational chemistry and materials science principles.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research environment.

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected candidate's education and experience.

Special Note: Due to this position’s salary having all or a portion of it being funded by grants or contracts, the continuing salary and overall employment is contingent upon availability of these funds in the future.
