This is a site-based role in Dresden, Germany.

This position provides quality control leadership to ensure that the QC laboratories operates in a sustained state of cGMP control.

The position holder is accountable to plan, organize, direct and control the activities of the Quality Control Department to achieve targets in terms of outputs, quantity and quality within budgeted costs and customer requirements. To ensure that all objectives and activities of the QC Department are aligned with GSK Dresden and GSK Vaccines business objectives.

Represent GSK Dresden in matters of Quality Control with local and International Authorities. Interface with internal supply chain and the Value Streams and deliver value to GSK Vaccines. The role is reporting direct line to the Dresden Site Quality Head.

In this role you will:

  • Manage on time delivery of the planned services, such as quality control, other laboratory tests, complaint management, oversee and support regulatory and product and process licensure services in requested quality.
  • Guarantee a high customer satisfaction, external as well as internal (value streams primary and secondary, and technical services)
  • Manage departmental units, quality control including ASAT to secure in timely manner quality and quantity of the services delivered. Headcount > 70 people
  • Promote a culture of people focus in line with GSK corporate and GSK Vaccines spirit.
  • Plan and implement cost control measures to ensure all operating costs are within agreed budget and target. Provide support to respective site strategy initiatives.
  • Design, develop and drive the implementation and adherence to the Quality System for the site
  • Ensure that all relevant information relating to all department activities are tracked, captured and forwarded in due time to management and concerned colleagues. Professional representation of the area internally as well as externally.
  • Support suitable technology exchange to improve, competitiveness of the GSK Dresden business as well as GSK Vaccines business. Continuously seek for efficiency implementations using process excellence and digital tools.
  • Manage the QC to ensure that all operations are in accordance to approved EHS standards.
  • Actively apply customer relationship management to provide pro-active response to customer need.

Required qualifications and skills:

  • Degree qualified in Pharmaceuticals, Biology, Microbiology, Virology. Preferably you are a certified Qualified Person
  • Considerable relevant experience in pharma industry and management experience in QC Laboratories
  • Experience in Regulatory and cGMP Quality Processes
  • Solid understanding of QMS, its application and business objectives
  • Good knowledge of operating experience of pharmaceuticals plants, including Quality Control Operations
  • Good knowledge of Virology, Biologicals  product and quality control processes
  • Excelent people manager and able to identify and promote talent
