Reporting to the Purchasing Manager in New Zealand, the Purchasing Officer will work with the wider team to assist in the many functional tasks that are required to optimise and improve supply chain operations.

This key role involves cross-functional coordination with local stakeholders, Engineering, Project Managers, on and off-shore suppliers, and teammates in the operations area.

The purpose of this position is to ensure cost-effective purchasing required to support manufacturing DIFOTIS. The role primarily focuses on replenishment and NPI purchasing, management of suppliers/freight forwarders and assisting with sourcing and improvement activities.

Key responsibilities of this role will include (but are not limited to):

  • Issuing purchase orders to local and international vendors and performing expediting activities for existing orders.

  • Contractual and relationship management of suppliers to ensure cost-effective DIFOTIS in line with Global Supply Chain Strategies.

  • Generation of forecasts for suppliers to improve on-time delivery of long-lead items.

  • Conducting planning, forecasting and inventory reconciliation meetings with key suppliers and contract manufacturers

  • Monitoring of End of Line and Obsolete parts and provide alternatives in consultation with Engineers, R&D to ensure production continuity.

  • Liaising with freight forwarders and suppliers to resolve non-conformances.

  • Liaising with and updating dates where required for supplier deliveries into our In-market warehouses in NZ, Australia and USA

  • Participate in supplier capability assessment, and vendor evaluation programmes, including RFP/RFQ where required.

  • Maintain master data in ERP (Microsoft D365 & Epicor) systems and adjust safety stock levels, MOQ based on purchasing history and future demand.

  • Support Finance team to ensure on time reconciliation of supplier’s and freight forwarders invoices.

  • Use every improvement opportunity to optimise department costs and efficiencies 

  • Liaising with customer delivery teams to maintain optimum inventory levels for commodity items.

Experience:

  • 2-5 years’ experience in the purchasing and procurement function and processes within a manufacturing environment

  • Experience in ERP system (D365 & Epicor) preferred

  • Experience in working with BOM requirements

  • Ideally 5+ years’ experience in planning, procurement, sourcing or similar SC role

  • Experience in electronics manufacturing not required but advantageous
