C.H Robinson is seeking highly skilled Senior Data Scientist who will combine expert statistical modeling knowledge with machine learning best-practices to drive business impact. The Senior Data Scientist is responsible for designing systems that monitor data streams to send signals and alerts to business users, as well as enhance existing algorithms embedded into our industry leading platform products. In this role, you will help to improve the world's supply chains and develop a deep expertise in cutting edge statistical and mathematical techniques, while partnering with our team of technologists to bring it to life on a cutting-edge technology stack.

Our Data Science department is quickly growing core capacities in multiple areas and is looking to add a candidate strong are in advanced mathematics and statistical modelling; From digitizing the search experience, to optimizing core quoting and costing engines, we are dedicated to the art of understanding the preferences of our users, carriers, and customers by building machine learning models that deliver optimized quotes to customers and relevant freight to our carriers.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop new features for existing algorithms through statistical and machine learning methodologies
  • Design and engineer high performance computing platforms and algorithms for a wide variety of data
  • Validate and implement modelling improvements to increase accuracy of data science algorithms
  • Evaluate and understand current & nascent modelling methods in the Data Science space
  • Execute work independently and ability to manage ambiguity
  • Embrace an R&D mindset through rapid prototyping & iterative experimentation
  • Work closely with IT delivery teams to optimize models in a production environment
  • Other duties or responsibilities as assigned according to the team and/or country specific requirements

Required Qualifications:

  •  3+ years of experience in advanced analytics, machine learning and/or data science
  • Experience with a variety of statistical methods, including boosting, generalized linear models, classification, regression, etc
  • Experience in programming: R and Python
  • Familiarity with data fundamentals including SQL
  • Strong knowledge of experimental design, hypothesis testing and analysis
  • Mastery of exploratory data analysis and data visualization
  • Strong familiarity with algorithm trade-offs when solving complex issues
  • Master's or PhD in a quantitative discipline

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Online Controlled Experiments
  • Experience with Monte Carlo and Bayesian modeling methods
  • Knowledge of nested/hierarchical and other complex experimental designs
  • Experience with bootstrapping and nonparametric approaches to statistical inference
  • Proven ability to work with a high degree of autonomy and out-of-the-box thinking
  • Demonstrated having conducted deep research into a targeted subject area
  • Strong sense of urgency and an ability to prioritize work effectively to maximize output and productivity

Compensation Range

$92,000.00 - $203,900.00
