The Red Hat Developer Tools team is looking for an Intern interested in developing containerization tooling to join us in Brno. In this role, you will contribute to the development of Podman Desktop, a free and open-source application that simplifies working with containers for developers on Windows, macOS, and Linux. You'll help with the full software development lifecycle of the application, from implementing new features to fixing bugs. As an Intern, you'll also write code in TypeScript, handle bug reporting, and engage with the open-source community. This long-term internship will give you the opportunity to gain experience in a professional software development environment and work on a popular open-source project.

Red Hat’s Intern Program is a collaborative effort between the Emerging Talent team and our intern managers. The program is designed to offer a meaningful and well-rounded experience — combining professional development, networking opportunities, social engagement, and impactful work. This is a paid internship based in our Brno office, typically lasting 12 months, with the possibility to extend up to 24 months. Interns work on average 20 hours per week, with flexible working hours, and the expected start date is February 1st.

What you will do:

• Participate in all phases of the software development life cycle, including design, development, testing, and documentation.

• Work on new features and extensions for Podman Desktop, helping to enhance the user experience for developers.

• Contribute to code reviews and collaborate with a global team of developers to improve code quality and best practices.

What you will bring:

• You must be enrolled in a Czech university (Bachelor’s 3rd/4th year or Master’s) for the full internship duration and be able to work full-time within 2 years.

• Working knowledge of written and spoken English

• Basic experience programming in TypeScript/JavaScript

• Familiarity with Git, and a basic understanding of containerization concepts (e.g., containers, images, pods).

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and a desire to learn new technologies.

• Prior participation in open-source software projects or contributions to a personal project on GitHub would be a plus.
